Always wanted to try this, and my satin black, flawed, old daily farm truck seems like a good candidate....Fixed up Ma’s old Singer, got a stack of old denim to cut up, and we will see what happens.....

I put a clutch In my daughters Jeep at -20 a few weeks ago. Luckily my cheapness overcomes what little brains I have.

Started 30 Chevy in 20deg temps, to back it up so Morton Bldgs could install the 14 x 12 doors. She fired right up, 307 amazes me. Morton got stuck 3mi down road on a hill. 2weeks before this snow is gone.

Did a quick and dirty toe-in check..

Recently did some front end work and set the toe with the usual gauge. Went for a ride, didn't seem right. Didn't have time to crawl under it last night but was curious so I came up with this, consisting of two old bed frame rails and 4 jack stands. Measuring just in front of the tires and again two feet forward should give the same result as measuring at the tires. Looks like it's toed in almost an inch, more than I usually screw up. I'll be checking it again the usual way but for a quick and dirty check I think this should work.

Created a new trunk upholstery panel in my 38 outside in the wonderful 27 degree weather. Rewired and reset the location of the air ride in the car

  16. Can ya bolt the windage tray on and cut off the excess studs?

  17. I would

Maybe not...does the windage tray bolt to the end of the studs?

I got so frustrated with the studs I now only use pans with the tray bolted to the pan

You guys checking front end alignment need to get four pieces of 12" x 12" 20 gauge sheet metal. Put wheel bearing grease on two of them and then sandwich the two pieces left over.. You should have two sandwiched together pieces of Sheetmetal. On a level floor put one under each front tire and bounce the car up and down a few times to get the suspension to relax. Now check your caster, camber and toe.... Don't be surprised if the new measurements are way off what the first couple of measurements were..

I always put a little more positive caster on the passenger side

kinda thinking that may be the way i go in the end, but am reconsidering my pan options now. I've got my eye on a 5qt vette pan that a buddy of mine has that I'd like to relieve him of, before I do any cutting or dimpleing. he just doesn't know it yet, heh heh heh...

I got the head off to see what was living inside after 50 odd years of sitting and was pleasantly surprised. Managed to free up my rear axle and not break any lug nuts getting the extra rusty wheels off.

Well after 4 plus years I finally got my roadster in the shop and started to mock things up. Don’t know how much time I’m going to be able to spend on it but at least it’s a start. IMG_2579.JPG
