I’m trying to keep it in the late 40’s style bonneville car. I found a 1935 Ford throttle assembly and have a question.

What is the purpose of the cup washer? There is no pocket or provision for it on my firewall. I’m using a United Pacific undrilled firewall. I know I have to cut out a slot in that indent for the pedal and drill a hole to secure the mount to the firewall.

the cup washer goes on the inside of the firewall, holds the insulation pad, and allows access to the nut so its not buried under the insulation.

  3. Thank you for the quick response.

I had to shape my own trans cover because the engine/trans is about 1-1/2” higher than stock. I just about finished the spoon pedal install. Waiting on a new return spring. Not sure if I’m going to use a firewall pad, so I may just use a regular washer.

Where is the source for that spring? I need 2 of them. Beautiful project, by the way...that firewall is pristine!

Thanks, @Rusty AND @65standard! I was actually getting ready to do a shaft jig to wind a couple. (Rough with wire that diameter...)

  11. That is some fine sheet metal work on that transmission cover.

Caution, stick in the mud ahead: When you mount a body you will find the floorboards sit about a half inch higher than the top edge of the frame. You might need to cut up that nice trans cover to make it fit again. One of those things that happens when a fella gets in a hurry without all his parts on hand.

  13. Yes, a lot of things happen when building a car from nothing. I am still fabricating and mocking it up one step, one piece at a time. I will solve each snag as they come up.
