Filter pump on front of firewall, carter rotary electronic pump for a Vw,2.5 psi no regulator needed. Switched out alot along the way..FSI,Holley 94 8BA,cast iron original winfield 7.5 to 1 head.. still have 97,B distributor and Rosemead aluminum winfield in the stash. Flathead is enough for me, got hookers and blow to buy :) thumbnail - 2020-03-20T211738.489.jpg thumbnail (64).jpg

One thing I'll add,and probably get grief for,is if you plan on driving the wheels off dont run a header..sexy? Without a doubt, but with a single carb intake you don't transfer heat to prevent icing..my next build (or if I get anxious) is to use a stock exhaust manifold with a restriction free exhaust..heat transfer to the intake guaranteed.

I agree on the manifold heat. It helps my gutted out equalizer manifold. If I go back to a header I may just weld a tank on the back of that intake and run hot water through it.

I have one of those vintage precision thermostats..was considering wrapping the intake horn with copper tubing and running hot water like a still to heat it but then I sobered up..

    Well, how things can change.
Had an order placed for a Brierley head but due to some other, unexpected expenses I had to cancel my order and go for something cheaper for the time being.

Ended up with a simple and kinda boring to be honest, Snyder 5.5:1 head instead.
To quote Johnny Cash, "Guess things happen that way".

  20. If it counts, I purchased a Simmons Super Power head, and had to end up selling it.
That intake looks killer! What is it?

  23. Well, backup engine is in the shelf. I gotta figure out the “poor boys” method of polishing that valve cover

That is the intake available thru Snyder’s, and I’m sure other vendors as well. I ordered one recently to cut up for a non A project... turns out the runners are noticeably bigger than a standard A, so I chose not to use for my application. My guess is the manifold runners would probably flow more than a single 97 could supply... maybe a 9super7 tho...?

I was familiar with his aluminum body thread, but hadn't seen the blown banger.

I bought some heat pads to play with, small 1"x 2" pads 12v small versions of the ones that keep oil pans warm..search 'engine heat pads' but I figure the stock exhaust manifold flows well,Im not so comfy with running electrical stuff so close to fuel,The stock manifold does the trick and provides heat all the time.

The snyder 5.5 is a direct copy of the only performance head developed by ford engineering, the 1931 "police" head. Its heart shaped chamber has way better turbulence than stock and a compression pressure increase to the 90 psi range with everything else fresh. I ran a 97 with a shaved 5.5, hard to tell the difference between it and the 7.5 Winfield I currently run...tune it and go, you'll be happy

Yes, performance wise I am sure it will be just fine for me, and I'll be running a 97 too.
When I said boring I was just refering to the look of it, it doesn't exactly look like a performance head.
