This was always one of my favorites. I bought this as an incomplete kit at a church bazaar when I was about 10 because I thought the box art was so cool. The kit's called "Time Bomb" but the lettering on the car says "Fire Bomb." Guess they changed it, or someone screwed up. The Lindberg kits had some of the coolest art.
I'd go to the local country club and chase carts for 4 hours to get the money to buy a model kit. I wasn't really big enough to be a full on caddy.
Well thanks from me to Nils and "the Boss". Those pics brought great memories and feelings of the freedom of kid kingdom. Just last week I was thinking about going into my attic and start building some of the 110 kits I've stashed away. I thought I'd do a assembly line kind of thing, assemble similar parts from different kits, paint and move on to individual type detailing like body colour and so on. When I was a kid the kits cost $2.98, can of spray paint $.98, little bottle $.15, and glue (with a note from a parent when I was really young) $.15 along with tax. I was getting $.25 a week for doing chores aroundd the house. Eventually my grandfather would give me and my siblings $.25 a week as well so th elong process of saving up for a kit was cut in half. Not long after that my grandfather, who we picked up every Sunday for roast beef dinner, pulled me aside after he dispensed his quarters to us all. He told me not to mention it to anyone in the family and gave me an extra $1.00 which he continued to do for years. I guess he just appreciated me more than the others! I just turned 65 yesterday so maybe it's time I share that story with my siblings!

This post rules. After building the model, I used to cut out the box top and hang it on my wall as a boy in grade school. In high school, I had the '51 Saints Henry J inside my locker door...along with a picture of Candy Loving of course...
I bought a sealed tv Tommy Ivo Showboat kit the hot rod reunion, Ivo grabbed it and autographed it. I said to Tommy, Thanks, now I can’t build it. True story
Man, I'd forgotten about the other brands of kits. Monogram, Aurora, The Lindberg Line It's like standing in front of the model isle at our local Woolworths back in the day.
Thanks for your reply...man I'd love to find one of those. I suppose I could study your pics and try to replicate but that sounds like too much work!
Being into open wheel racing at the time, I built a lot of theses in the mid 50's. This box contains a complete un assembled kit.
Damn...all of this "Art" is putting a bump in my jeans...I just recently started buying old model kits on ebay , I have alot allready in my stash , I really like the old ones..I buy and build...don't collect for investment reasons , I like too play with my toys...I don't smash'm , crash'm or burn them like I did when I was a kid though. Here's a few of latest. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Continue....the Boss A-Bone kit was a ebay find that I have been looking for ...it was a "glue bomb" and had broken and missing parts..but there was enough of it there to help get my build project going of my favorite Hot Rod pu...still have several specific parts to collect and more info on a few things, been collecting every photo I can find of the truck. I have got the box/bed of it shorted ...scale equivalent of 6" and the rear fenders bobbed ...scale equivalent of 3"...I believe that is the correct measurements? I know there's at least one guy here that knows what I'm going for. Sent from my SM-T387V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
