I am now 64 and have a little more time to think about things than I used to. I love cars- always have. But the rest of my family and most of my friends don't... I know most of you guys on the HAMB know what I am talking about.
When I talk to most people about cars they sort of gloss over as I do when they talk about sports, or hunting, etc. I was the 3 year old who knew the difference between car models. I was the teenager who studied all car magazines from front to back.
    What say you guys??

Didn’t come from my Dad. Mom, what’s going on here?
Probably started when I got that pea stuck in my nose.

    I'm normal. It's everyone else that's odd.

Someone asked me why I got into the car hobby, simple you can work on cars alone!
My Dad was a sports fanatic, but he never took the time to get me involved.
When you do something on your car and it turns out well, the satisfaction is all yours.

You accomplish something with a car or house or boat etc. it’s always around as long as you own it.
If you accomplish something related to sports.
It only lasts as long as someone’s memory.
Squirrels right everyone else is weird.

    Odd? Why I never!

Haha I would chart my oddness based on associates.

@porknbeaner is one of my best friends. That should register on your odd meter enough to notice bahaha

Odd, Normal, Weird, all those things remind me of a comparison that I use to justify the way I am.

Normal is usually used to mean like other people, or similar to average people.

But, from the first day of school we all are encouraged to get good grades.. A and B were rewarded. C, not so much.

Odd isn't it that normal/average is not what the expectation is in school, but is in 'life'.

I've never been normal, never will be. I like Mopars. Only 6 cylinders. Flatheads even.

Perfectly normal, I do recall when I started school I began to notice how truly odd the other children were.

When I realized my big toe fit in my nose.

Oh, cars? Not until recently to be honest. Growing up everyone seemed more in tune with automobiles. Now they are consumables, it's like being into office supplies.

I realized it the first time I saw myself in the mirror, naked.

  21. As a teen, I realized that cars make a lot more sense than most people. There were mag wheels and valve covers in my bedroom. Dad gave me a transmission for Christmas once.

    Gotta do something in life.
    We choose hot rods.
    Gotta express ourselves.
    Gotta create.
All artists are a little different.
    But not odd.
More like... what could you say?... passionate... having a passion to be creative.
And that's a somewhat rare attribute. Especially someone who's willing and has the many varied skills to create such a work of art as a hot rod or custom... being one of the most involved and demanding forms of art there is.

My mom always celebrated my birthdays after 18 as anniversaries... “the son who never grew up” At 55 she gave me a tee shire that said “Celebrating the 32nd anniversary of his 18th birthday” with the above quote under it.

When I was 17 I moved my bed out of my room and brought the fold up cot out of the attic, to make more room. I brought all my 35 Hupmobile parts into the room and my 406 tripower. It was quite neatly organized with a narrow path from the door to my cot.Everything was perfect till my parents came home.I had no idea the tree could fall so far from the apple.

    Odd? why yes I am:p

I wear "odd" like a badge of honor...It's funny though, building hot rods is actually one of the more "normal" things in my "oddness bag of tricks"

And speaking of ODD, where's @Lloyd's paint & glass when you need him?;)
