Not Gonna lie. Your Hambster was a inspiration in the creation of mine. Followed your thread closely from the very first one and treated it as a how to.

  3. Wow! It is so cool to see so many outstanding 6 powered cars!! It's nice to know there are others who share the same genetic defect :) Many of you have already seen pics of our '50 Chevy pickup with an injected 292. Best time to date is 10.94 at 119 mph. IMG-1498.JPG IMG-0019.JPG

  6. Hey, Bench Seat 4speed - I am with you all the way!! The race truck up above is a bench seat 4 speed, our '56 is a bench seat 4 speed (becoming a 5 speed), and our blue '50 driver pickup is a 5 speed bench seat. I remember the first new car I ever owned was a '68 Chevelle SS 396 350 hp with..... a bench seat 4 speed. I have loved them ever since!

  10. Here's our '56. It's not really a "race" car but we do race it some. It's more of a street/strip car, I guess. We've owned it for 46 years so it is part of the family. IMG-1450.jpg 56interior post.JPG 56engine doc.JPG

OK, that also explains why the signage is not a blur as the camera would be panned. Good pic.

Very cool! Are all the hambster drags the same set up ? I saw those two both ran Ford 170. I’m surprised it’s wasn’t a 200. I’m guessing a built c4 behind them? Looks like cheap fun. I dig it

I was there hat day crewing for the green 40 Chev coupe. That's Dick Peterson's car. 292, Lump port Head, 3 Webers, 12.5 cr, 350 TH, 4:10 with a spool. Dick passed away in 2014. The 55 ran a 302 Jimmy and was owned by Frank Berlotuci (sp) of Hot Heads by Frank fame.

Owner / Driver??? With #11 maybe a Div. I car?

It looks like a Ford hybrid crossflow head six. Dig the extended magneto above the valve cover (to clear the relocated intakes).

You may be right loudbang, that pickup in the background is badged as a Mercury, a Canadian variant of a Ford F100. Somebody probably recognized all the orange license plates.

Always liked Kay's stuff. Managed to be at the 'Dale when He & Ted Stanwood got it on.
Sadly, missed out on the thrash the night before though.

Define "...got it on" and "thrash the night before".

Match race on a show Sunday. Ted came all the way across the country to get it on, genuine East/West showdown thing very popular those days.

Manic thrash at Kay's the night before to get Ted's car back together after he injured it at that Saturday's practice. Went on pretty far into the night. That sort of camaraderie also very common then.

Sunday, Ted discovered that somewhere along the mess he'd lost his gloves. I & one of my buds took off & scrounged all the pits for a spare pair, and by the time we got back someone else'd already loaned him some. Went & returned ours.

Thanks Old6, I thought there might have been some kind of a hoodlum hot rod rumble.

Do you remember who won the match race? Of course there was no loser.

Sorry, most of my memories're in the track slang of the day.
Don't even know any of the current stuff, "geezerhood" I guess.

    West Coast, of course. ;)

Up 'til a few years ago Ted was still in the six banger parts game. I'm running a set of his valves in the 'Brick.

One meet I wish I'd been able to make was the first East/West one in Texas. At the time I was desperately in heat with Red Case's midi.
