Art & Inspiration Junkyard pics from northwestern Alabama

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by robert56, Jan 29, 2021.

  1. I went to a junkyard in Cherokee, Alabama last weekend just to do some photography - no parts picking this time. I shot 35mm and developed in some really old C41 chems, so that's why the colors are a little messed up but I thought some folks might want to see.

The yard is on Fossick Lane right off of the Natchez Trace. It's owned by a nice old fella that calls himself Peanut. If you're in the area be sure to stop by the Key Underwood Coon Dog Cemetery too. Yes, a cemetery for purebred coon dogs.

When I was a kid. I always looked forward to finding treasure in a auto wrecking yard.

Neat place! I could spend at least half a day digging thru the wheel covers and hubcaps. There has to be a bunch of good parts left on some of those cars. Junk yards like that have all but vanished around here:eek::(

  10. I hadn't realized there would so much enthusiasm for this. Here's a few more pics of HAMB friendly items. Peanut said that someone came down out of Tennessee a few months ago and bought up most of his decent Chevy stuff, but left the Fords and a bunch of flatheads. Just my luck.

  12. Everythings for sale. I got a nice AD chevy truck hood and some engine parts for my '54. Prices were reasonable. I flipped the hood for 50% more than what I paid for it.

It is amazing that after all these years the hoods are still on most those cars.Wish I lived closer.

We'll have to get together one Sat and ride up that way. Don't really see anything I need, but you never know when you start looking what you might find.

That's rad! There used to be a great junkyard near Lafayette TN (southern TN). He had acres of cars, incredibly organized by era and make. It took about a year before he would let me out on the yard unaccompanied. It was amazing. Found an old shoebox ford that had been a moonshine runner that I got a Sharps 2 deuce intake off of. He got bought out by a broker back in the early 2000s I believe.
