Customs Eliminating 51 Mercury window wings

Trying to find anyone that has replaced window wings with one piece glass. Did you eliminate the c shaped support piece?
I’m concerned the door would be to flexible if I did that.
Appreciate any help.

Did that to my 1950 F1. Didn't seem to bother it in the least.
