Technical Screws - The Early Years

  1. I know. It sounds like click-bait.

But I stand by my thread title, regardless. :p

Funny how old screws are better that the ones I get at near 60. I digress...

I took my '53 F100 completely apart and didn't break a single bolt. The '70's and '80's models I've taken apart ended up with many broken bolts.

Every bolt and screw that I took out of my '55 Ford Sedan Delivery that had been sitting for years in a guy's front yard in New Mexico came out easy. Probably the combination of high desert and no humidity.

  6. Just so I understand this, you’re telling us that you have a umm, screw loose?

Seems when I was younger, I had a lot of screws. Not so many now. I guess when you get older, you don't need as many screws (according to the wife).:(

Try telling a twenty year old that older screws are better, she'll hit you.

Thanks @ClayMart , an interesting interlude in my day.:)

Also interesting to note, the video is 18 minutes and 33 seconds long. The first three replies are up within 12 minutes.
And of the other reply posts, I would estimate that only two actually watched the whole thing.
See if you can guess which two.

An impressive turn-around time of a mere three minutes.
And the gold medal goes to......................................:D

I had some screws I couldn't get out of a 59 Olson Grumman. I tried to drill them out and they ate the drill bits. Half the new screws I put in these days strip when installing them. Somebody probably makes grade 8 screws but I haven't seen any locally.
