  1. Yes, Melbourne was the worst in that state.

I spent a lot to time on the phone with Melbourne people who were crawling up the walls, and worse.
We were lucky to be able to use our cars at will all year.

  3. I agree, you guys as a whole seem to have a better grasp of the traditional cars than many here in the States, it's apparent reading and viewing this thread. HRP

Kool52, I haven’t seen that many young people at a hotrod event.....like ever! My kids would love it! Someday I plan to revisit the land down under and when I do I’ll have to time it to hit up some of these events!

Like mentioned above you guys seem to get it more than a lot guys here. Go figure!

Probationary drivers licence. You'll notice the one on the windshield is red, that would be the reverse side of a double sided plate. Rules vary from state to state but in Victoria first two years of driving you must display the red plate on front and rear of vehicle. There are sometimes restrictions on maximum allowable speeds, number of passengers you can carry, power to weight ratio of the vehicle, I think at one stage even night time curfews. The youngsters also have to log a minimum of 120 hours supervised driving on a 'learners permit' before sitting for their licence test (at 18 yrs of age). Don't quote me on any of this, it's a few years since my boys went through this stage.
Green 'P's are then displayed for the next period until you go onto a 'full licence'.

Over here 55Belairretrorod. We have a red L on white back ground for learning, and a green p on white background for just past tests. I'm not 100%sure but similar rules for insurence curfews and limited passengers. Also some new cars have a smart box fitted to make sure the rules are not broken. It's still cheaper to insure a hot rod than a hot hatch for youngsters. In certain towns hot hatch boys and girls have got cruising banned.

Great to see our friends down under doing so well, great to see the traditional cars in such an equally so back roads tour, parking looked tight but great for the photo shoots & who would want to leave early ?

Its great seeing happy faces with so many wearing summer cloths and enjoying their Hot Rods. Bright sunshine and everything so green. Its so cold on the East coast the temp this morning was 10 degrees seeing all of this has warmed me up a bunch. Thanks to everyone for posting such great pictures.

Our auctions have become an integral part of the run using them as a means to fund our weekend, mostly hand painted by entrants & rccrc friends.Always well supported not just with $ bids but donated goods also.
