Projects Bought this pipe bender for $275

Saw this on a pallet and it powers on and works well, not quite sure how to use it?

 

It seams like that would make long bends, think spiral staircase.

 

I am jealous.

 

Tubing roller. Still cool and a great buy for what you paid.

 

It's not really a bender, but a roller, looks like a heavy duty unit. It will produce bends similar to this.

ok - will do.. There is a 3rd wheel that goes on the center pin (its not on in the pics), thought I might be able to make some tighter bends for exhaust possibly, maybe it can be modified?

I wouldnt even know how to use it- whats the Handle for at the top, and does it roll the tube thru or just press?

2mm = 0.078 max wall thickness, exhaust is around 65 thou. I bought it more on a whim - im sure in time ill figure out what can be done with it

A bit of requesting can probably get the manuals for it.

UPDATE: it looks like you were looking at the same time. It may be sold by several brands by the looks of it. Handy if you need it, worth more than you paid if you decide you don't. You may end up making yard furniture for your significant other if they find out what it will do though.

 

Greenlee conduit bender I think. For electrical conduit I think

 

Too bad it isn't the fully enclosed one because that one is, "more safe" and will "live a longer life"!

 

Also puts a slight crown on tubing for like pick up bed covers and boat tops.

 

Nice find and will come in very useful, but you'll quickly find it won't help with exhausts. Great way of creating a pile of scrap material if you were to try. Now there's a challenge for you! ha ha

Put it on a small trailer along with a generator and take it to car shows. Oh yea, you might want to bend up a bunch of pipe first, just to get the hang of it. Could be a small money maker, well maybe. I saw a guy once with a louver press on a small trailer doing the same thing.

 

It turns in both directions. Tube goes on top of the outer rollers and below the center roller. As you go forward and backward you increase the down pressure on the center wheel (mandrel) by turning the handle on top. As you increase the down pressure it continues to tighten the radius of the bend. I might be wrong, but I doubt it would do tight enough bends of a good quality on thin tubing for exhaust pipe. Nice purchase though!

I don't want to burst any bubbles but I believe it is a "bender" just like a exhaust pipe bender. You would be hard pressed to pull and push tubing or pipe through that. It's intended use is to exert force in the vertical direction. Unless those side rollers are powered I can't see how you will move the pipe foward and backward. I say this because I have a Greenlee tubing bender and the main radius die captures the tubing as you apply pressure to the ram, it is eccentric and causes the tubing to be pulled along the die. Like a exhaust pipe bender that one will tend to crush the tubing.

Yep motor driven.

This is a tubing "roller" not actually a tubing bender.

This would be good for making those circular frame yard swings.

Agree not worth much to bend exhaust pipe...

 

Well I do own a boat repair shop.. maybe try bend some of the Ss rails etc..

I saw some videos on how to use it, this supposedly bends up to 76mm 80 thou wall..

I see depending on dies it can do angle iron, flat and square bar too..

 

Not a conduit bender, wrong kind of shoes.

 

I hope I didn't come across as being snotty. I was just typing a quick response on my phone and didn't mean it to sound condescending.

 

I suppose you could use it to build an industrial level still!
