My model A coupester is a fun little car but I also want to be able to take my family on a trip so the search was for a family ride , vintage of course !
I found a 1946 fordor that needed some love.
It was a older restoration but I had some fire damage on the outside.

Plans are : Get the flatty running smooth ,Paint , lowered , sun visor and drive !
    Big changes maybe later on.

Interior is nice and the heat did not affect the upholstery

  3. Nice ride! You know which side to park closest to the wall, right?
Make sure it runs, drives and stops, lower it a bit, and away you go. A little paint for now to hide the boo-boo.

Flatty runs a little raw but after changing points for electronic , new spark plugs and battery it is running real nice.

Brakes where not working but to my surprise all four corners were done.
    IMG_4561.jpeg

I checked the master and that was the problem , I even needed heat to take the cap off to find out it was full off rust.
Changed the master out for a new one and the brakes are real good now.

I got a spare axle laying in my shop for a long time and it happened to be the same as the 46.
Collecting parts now to build a dropping jig, never did one but there must a first time for everything.
This will be be a side project , paint is first.

Test fitted the repro fulton visor , had to do some mods to make it work but will be good in the end.

Bought some fender skirts , looks nice but need some tweaking to get a nice fit.
I have to wait till the rear fenders are back on the car to have the correct shape.

Painted the roof metal flake for the first time , need more layers but run out off clear.
Ordered some more so hope to finish next week.
Base coat gold/ yellow to let it real shine.

    IMG_5917.jpeg

Need more layers to get the flakes even but its a start.
The rest of the car will be gloss black.

Took it one step further and lace painted the roof.
Tomorow clear and then finally the rest of the car in black, season is coming.

Since I love a coupe more then a fordor I started to search for a coupe roof to convert the fordor into a coupe.
I found one and also a decklid in bad shape.

The coupe had some sort of accident in the past so not all parts are straight.
I used the lower part of the fordor decklid and the upper part of the coupe decklid, still some hammer and dolly work to sort this out.

Tacked the upper quarter pieces to the body ,I cut of the the corner pieces so I can rework them to fit.
Start to look a bit like a coupe , still lots off tweaking to get the lines correct.
Tomorrow more work on the decklid and quarters.

I LOVE stuff like this, looking forward to seeing more, and subscribed! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

The remaining section of coupe trunklid you ended up keeping to use, looks just like another 4 door sedan trunklid, just slid forward. I always wondered if you could make a coupe trunklid out of a couple of sedan ones.
