recently bought this neat old HotRod .... spent its life in sunny California. I was looking around and was unsure about spending so much it was my wife who said, “ what are you waiting for?.. you only live once”....bless her didn’t need telling twice.... Haven’t been able to enjoy it yet due to this covid bs. I’ve always built my own cars in the past but decided to spend my time and money driving instead this time... still feel 21 in my head but the body doesn’t always agree these days. Planning on chopping the screen and fitting a top and that’s about it.
That's a neat 32 roadster. Congrats. Hope you've got a shed to put it in as that poor 32 is probably having withdrawal symptoms after a life in sunny California LOL
Love it Nige, your wife was right! Great looking car, hope to see it in the flesh when the dust settles.
It’s perfect. I can see why you didn’t flinch on the buy. Post pics of the top, and some more of the car. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
very nice ride - before chopping "the screen" make up a temporary screen with plexiglass, or ?, and take short drive at speed to see how it feels with more wind in your face - and be sure that top will attach easily - have fun
To me...that is perfect and is exactly what I would want. I am a little jealous but I am happy for you A full fendered roadster is just IT!!
I am not sure I would change a thing. Even the windshield. What's under the hood and chassis? Sent from my SM-G950U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks for the words. The motor is a 59ab, it came with a lot of spares including a Wieand dual,Offy heads, these may go back on the motor but it runs sweet as is and I’ll see. Box is ‘39, axle is Mordrop, rear axle is 40, the chassis was put together I believe at Kiwi Steve’s and is very well sorted. The body and particularly the fenders, are mint.. the latter are NOS I believe. I’ll post pictures of the top when it’s done.... I chopped a pair of spare posts that came with the car but they were repro and fit like a chickens lip when I came to fit them to the lower posts, so I’ll do the ones on the car as I know they fit. The irons and bows are like new and have probably never been on the car, given where it was from... going to try and mimic Mark Morton’s top off his “HopUp “roadster, if possible.Finding someone to cover the top frame as I want it is the problem possibly.
Nige, looks great with the fenders! From my recollection, the condition of the body is quite unbelievable. Have you managed to find any issues at all - asking on behalf of all those who'll be terribly jealous when they learn of the truly incredible, unmolested, never repaired condition of it! Chris
Congratulations, great looking car, don't start changing to much because it may end up in the garage being changed up instead of being driven.
No plans to change anything too much... I’ve spent too much time in the garage over the years so this will be for driving and tinkering with
An understanding wife AND a Deuce roadster? You must be doing something right. Congats on the new Hot Rod!
