I have a 39 Chevy with a 54 truck engine. I’m looking at giving it a tune up and replace the ignition components as I’ve not long got the car and it’s running sick. My question is , Can I use any Delco Condensor or are they specific to the engine? I have a couple of condensers in some old Chevy V8 Distributers.
I hope this doesn’t sound too dumb.

It will work fine. I'm assuming your vehicle has been changed to 12 volts and you are using the proper ballast resister or resister wire ignition lead to lower the voltage...

Those 50-60 year old Delco parts will be higher quality than anything you can buy today.

Yes, it has the resistor. I got it going. I found the Condenser had died. I was lucky to have an old Chevy V8 distributer and got the Condenser from it.

Yeah, the condenser was dead. Had one out of an old 56 V8 distributor fixed it.
