OK. Got you thinking. Been looking for a pair of skirts for the coupe in my avatar. The car has a forward rake. Most cars with skirts are taildraggers. Would it look weird on my car ?

  3. I agree. I believe skirts only seem “correct” on taildraggers or cars that sit basically level.

Only one thing worse and that’s a pickup truck with skirts.

  5. Mock some up with cardboard and see if you like the look, the car will tell you.

As a General Principle or as an Exception To The Rule?

That custom truck with beautifully done fully skirted fenders is a long way from the OP’s stock coupe getting rear skirts.

Everything is subjective. To each their own. I think skirts on pickups look terrible. But it's your ride, do as you see fit. I do agree skirted cars should sit level, and low as well. I wanted to bubble skirt my shoebox, but I didn't think it sat low enough, so I passed. And it sits fairly low...

I’m in the no camp as well. If you have to run skirts, you need to drop that rear a bit.

LOL, there's so much ugly in one Pic here, it's difficult that know where to start.

And yes, agreed, like the op's car!

Skirts go on customs, not on stock vehicles.

If your skirt's up high enough that someone can look under it, it's too high. ;)

I don't think your car would look better with skirts. more important than that, you should not care one way or the other what I think..

To me a car with skirts and with the nose down looks confused. Most dealers with cars with airbags show pic`s of the with the nose down. Even thou they have skirts, Shows you how much they know about cars ? Scan0576.jpg

If you are considering skirts then u must like them! I say go for it! Everybody that tells u not to most likely dont run skirts and dont care for them. I like a car with skirts myself. Just my 2 cents though!

Skirts make them look long and low like a Chris Craft from the thirty’s, so no.

  26. The 42 Mercury in the top of this pic is representative of the needed stance for skirts to look right on this body style coupe at least in my mind. But, that is just my opinion.

60's-70's Mini Skirts. when using your hand for a gauge like giving a thumbs up, If your thumb got wet, the length was just right. LOL What great times us Baby Boomers lived in, the Best Music, Girls, Cars. I have a mild kustom 51 Merc and I have left the skirts off just to be different, my wife thinks I'm weird, I prefer unique.
