I need some suggestions for my upper control arm frame mount for my 38 pickup. Since I am using SN95 Mustang Rear Axle, my upper control arms will be mounted on top of the frame.

I can mount it in middle of the frame which will leave one corner and one edge hanging in the air or move the bracket toward inside and use an angle iron to support the inner side of the bracket. The bracket will be welded on inside and outside regardless how I mount it.

    Thanks

    Waid

I'd move it to the inside, but rather than using angle iron I'd make a small triangle gusset that went down the rail a few inches.

  3. Yes. Add some material to the bracket where the angle is so that you can weld it vertically on the frame.

I'd cut a plate the same size as the base of the bracket so that it boxed the bottom of the bracket. Weld it to the frame then take a pie cut piece and go from the corner of the bracket sticking inside the rail and down the rail.

    Hope that made sense...

It's going to have to go in one exact spot if you have the oem Mustang control arms and haven't switched to some sort of adjustable control arms.

I like Lostone's idea in that should make it plenty strong.

I already had that idea but did not post it. The bracket will sit on little bit of radius of the frame which makes it little more difficult.

I bought a DIY universal kit which has a 1.25 DOM and it's really nice for $300

That's how my frame maker Boling Brothers does it with Ford 9 inch.
