This very cool mint condition, rare 1948 NASH wrecker with the ASHTON bed and booms lives out at the Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo South Dakota.

This truck looks familiar, was this a NY truck ?

  5. Yes it was. The cab and chassis were from an old U-haul and the wrecker bed was off a old Dodge. Was built for me by Curtis O'Neil in Alden, New York. At the time I was working at a truck repair shop in the old Central Terminal.

In the early '60s I bought the tools and equipment of a garage here in Portland. With it came a '47 Cadillac that had been made into a tow truck. It was painted black and the name (Division Texaco) was painted on it and it had a Texaco globe on the roof. Sure wish I had taken a picture. Nicely done rig.

    mighty impressive!

i would love to see the undersides of both vehicles to the reinforcement methods. i know the Holmes unit is not simply mounted on the running boards with turnbuckles connecting to the fenders!

From one of my all time favorite movies......LOL.
Look! We've figured it seventeen different ways, and every time we figured it, it was no good, because no matter how we figured it, somebody don't like the way we figured it! So now, there's only one way to figure it. And that is, every man, including the old bag, for himself!
