Wow 14:1. Must take some careful planning to keep breathing adequate in the chamber. Sounded great I'll bet.

On my street engine I figured the best path was a huffer. Just push it through.:)

^^^^^^^^^^ Would love to see what the dome on a 14 to 1 piston looks like.

Yes. Didn't spend much time helping this car. I mostly wanted to go in straight lines. This was Chuck Foley's midget. He also had a 270 Offy powered sprint at that time. Billy Cantrell was driving as I remember. Chuck was a foreman at UAL at the time. My shop stewered was his mechanic, It was a fun place to work then.

Nothing much to see. It is as flat as a table top. It has to do with math. A single plane circle has less area than a spherical circle. Remember, this is a flathead, NOT an overhead engine. Totally different concept.

Pete1.......I was thinking of the area in head for valve clearance making it hard to get that high a CR.

I made the head for my 32 Plymouth V4/GMR Bonneville car. By the time I had cut clearance to open the valves, and made a tapering ramp from the valve area to the cylinder, 10 to 1 was very hard to get. I had flat top pistons and the head was flat about half way across the cylinder. 14 was impossible. This was with a 4 5/8 stroke 3 7/8 bore cylinder. Should have been easy to build compression.

I am not the guy that figured it out. I just followed what others did.

a buddy stored his 37 with a V8-60 at my house so I took it for a spin every time i needed my garage for my projects.

from my experience they don't go over 40 MPH.... since I only drove around the neighborhood.
