Hot Rods Ford three speed gear swap

Working on the transmission for my model A/V8 which will sit behind a flathead

The model a will have a 1936 banjo rear

I have a 78 style transmission housing and 51-54 gears that were for an open drive vehicle
I need to change this for a closed drive setup. My question is if it’s is possible by just changing the main shaft? If so which one do I need? Are these gear ratios appropriate for my build?

Unfortunately this will not work. The 51-54 low reverse gear won’t fit on any of the closed drive mainshafts. Ford and the aftermarket didn’t make such a shaft, although it would have been very nice had they done so.
