Your right Mr. Fink. Toy cars need gas too. So here's a few toy gas pumps.

 

As a kid my grandad would play with me. We took D batteries, and make pole lights. We built bridges over the creek. Built houses and barns. He would make mud flaps from old inter tubes. We built fires in the boilers of the old steam shovels. He had all the cool old keystone, Kelment, and Buddy L trucks. I loved playing in the dirt and creek with them. I always told my parents if it didn't have wheels, I didn't want it! Imagination , and FUN FUN FUN!!!

Is it just me, or does that Nomad look familiar...

Picked this one up today, I think it looks like a prison bus. I haven’t found any markings on it yet. The back panel looks like it is a piggy bank.

 

Looks to be a Wyandotte Oil truck. Nice find, they're pretty scarce, especially with the original headlights intact.

 

Thanks Jack, you are a great resource, oil truck would work. It has 4 circular outdents and a double body line from the window back. I think it looks cool, being rare is just icing on the cake. It only has 2 wheels at present and a really nice looking kickstand, not sure if that is factory or after the fact. The original paint that is left looks orange, but might have been red.

The Erie, Pa plant, and the Girard, Pa plant were very near where I live now (Girard), and I grew up in Erie. Always had Marx toys when I was a kid, because both my mother, and my aunt, worked at Marx.

Picked up this Buddy L Sit-N-Ride tractor and mis-matched Structo trailer at an estate sale last week
Both a little "used" but the price was right..

 

Another auction… another toy for the collection. I’m supposed to be buying to resell, but sometimes I keep one. This one is small, only 3 inches long, and the key wind mechanism still works! Was eyeing a Wyandotte delivery van, but decided to pass when it went for close to double the retail price… at an auction!

 

I won this among some farm toys in an auction. I can not find any markings as to who made it. What did I win?

 

Hey @Dieseldoctor , you have a late 1930s Marx Ice truck. I've never seen one marked "MILK"...pretty cool...could be quite scarce. Unfortunately the headlights are broken off, and the hood trim is missing...but reproduction grilles and hood trim are available.

 

Hey Hotrodjack33, that sure looks like the same truck. I looked and sure enough, there were two dimples in the grill where the headlights would have been fastened. And the hood trim you mentioned must have covered the seam down the center of the hood. Now do I leave it original or get a new grille, headlights, and hood trim and just install those or do I do that and paint it also? Where do I get the grill and headlights? If I decide to sell it where do you recommend I do that? I'm new to this.

 

DO NOT repaint the truck! The fact that it says "MILK", and not "ICE" make it rather special.

Unfortunately, those parts will come brightly zinc plated...and will need to be "aged" to match the condition of the truck. I wire wheel the plating off, down to bare steel, then use a mix of hydrogen peroxide, table salt, and white vinegar to rust/patina the parts...takes less than a 1/2 hour...then shoot with a low gloss clear.

Also, DO NOT wax the truck, or anything else to make it shiny (wax, WD40, silicone etc.). It will permeate the metal, and if someday, someone DOES want to restore/repaint it, the paint won't properly adhere to it.

I have this posted elsewhere, but will add it here. I am definitely an “as found” toy guy, couldn’t leave the Bush’s beans post go unanswered. There was a Heinz plant in my hometown for over 100 years, it is still operating under another name, still making Heinz beans. I also have a nib reproduction of this toy, but like the original better. Don’t worry, no repaint while it is under my watch.

 

How about a tonka, had a ton of fun playing with trucks like this when I was a kid in the 60’s. Mine was a red jeep gladiator pickup. The best toys come from Grandmas yard sale, as they didn’t get played with everyday.

 

Found this one at an estate sale today

 

I had a Hubley Tanker I fixed a couple years ago but never had the correct truck cab to go with it. Recently found one on E-Bay. Fixed the cracks in the plastic with super glue and baking soda, formed a new piece for one of the damaged fenders and found a model car part to match the broken front bumper.
A little epoxy, sanding and paint now makes the tanker complete.

 

Here is one made by Ertl, says it is a 1931 Hawkeye.
