Valves open at TDC of either the end of the compression stroke or the end of the exhaust stroke are not as realistic as them being closed. At TDC of compression they should both be closed, and at TDC of exhaust they are in the overlap period which in most cases just barely lifted off the seats.

Yes, I realize that. and the cam should be oriented to make that happen ......which if all the pushrods were the same length....it would mechanically have to happen. The rocker arms would be tilted somewhat as well. Since there is overlap, both valves will be off their seats and its just a matter of how much the builder decides looks prudent......for effect. At this point its too late to make too many changes. Along that same line, the other 4 pistons are NOT at BDC even though they are at the same height, so those valves should reflect which stroke each cylinder is on. In any case, my suggestion was that tilting some rockers and opening some valves (however slightly) would relieve some of the regimented look of all components being in the same plane.
The gearheads who visit Mr Hansens shop will undoubtedly look for the anatomical correctness of the skeleton and its components. To the less mechanically inclined, all will appear correct because they are more interested in Mrs Klaus anatomical correctness.;) I really think Hansen will have a nice display when its done and didn't want to critique whether its perfectly executed mechanically.

I found the thread when Mrs Hansen was already gone. I read "nice avatar" and looked, thought 'hell yeah, beautiful car'. Kept reading and got to "I'd like to brush her hair". Scratched my head and thought 'this is surely some cool hot rodding term I'm unaware of. I'm such a fng...'

    LOL.

I'll just have to wait 'til next December to see who Mrs. Hansen is. I've been watching this thread since you started it but must admit I never looked at the avatar; the skeleton engine pix were so interesting. I guess I'll start watching avatars more closely. Anxiously awaiting the next set of pix though.

I'm reasonably sure that this required a lot more effort and head scratchin than what it seemed it would. Keep up the nice work!;)

Nice picture. Hard to attach the valves to roller rockers? Bet it was a nice engine when it had a block to hold all those parts. Wonder how one would look if someone built an "exploded" skeleton with a dropped valve and a broken rod or two?
Maybe a broken rocker and a bent pushrod........:D

The original rockers is much bigger than the Chevrolet rockers,,,,did not think of that when I bought them.So they are a little "off" Skärmavbild 2021-01-06 kl. 09.59.17.png Skärmavbild 2021-01-06 kl. 10.01.27.png Skärmavbild 2021-01-05 kl. 16.10.12.png Skärmavbild 2021-01-06 kl. 10.02.20.png

I don't care what position the pistons, valves, pushrods , rockers, etc. are in. Hansen this is one friggin' cool project. I love it. But, please, how about returning Mrs. Hansen until this skeleton is done. Pretty please.

I thought about it :),,,,but the distributor was missing, and i did not want to buy a new one.
It would be fun to weld it to the cam, replace the spark plug wires with some black painted roundbar, and just have the spark plugs hanging in the air.
