no, I meant large diameter modern billet aluminum wheels. this is a traditional (pre 65 build style) forum and modern stuff is not allowed

  7. A few weeks ago I was looking around YouTube for information on Buicks for a friend of mine when I came across this. I don't bring up my Buick much as it has been in long storage. I don't want to be the guy that talks about his other cool car that no one ever sees and everyone begins to think he's full of baloney.
This was shot at the Hot Rod and Custom Show down at the Denver Convention Center back in 2011. This was the last time I drove the car as the brakes were failing big time. I'm just glad the person shooting it didn't get my mug in the video. I was in the trunk digging around in my tool box for something and I never saw who shot it. Sometimes it's neat to see your car through the camera of someone else. Thanks to whoever shot it and posted it on YouTube. E

That’s a sweet ride! I hope you can get that one out and drive it soon!

Sports Car class with a custom Buick getting ready to race next, lowered with side pipes and all.

    Hello,

The oddest things show up in films from 1959-60. While doing a film clip of sports cars straight off of the street racing in their own classes, in the background was this cool Lime Green 55-56 Buick two door sedan rolling up to the starting line for its turn at racing. Many times this scenario was done on a weekly basis.

Young guys/girls popped off their hubcaps and raced their hot rods or mild customs to see how fast they actually were. This particular custom Buick had popped off the hubcaps, and ran with the lowered state, including those cool lakes side pipes, popular at the time.

In those early days, the Lion's Dragstrip staging area lanes were full of different cars and trucks. Here is another lowered custom Buick, and in the next lane over, a mild Cal Rake Oldsmobile Sedan in a different class. The rectangular signs in the background designate the specific class and proper lane for waiting.
