Not a big update but at least a update. This part has dragging out becouse i got a flu that keep me in bed. But i have built up my seat and backrest. Not fancy but will do the work. Will be upholstered this is just to keep it in place. This is a big step becouse my seating will determine how much i can chop the top.
I chopped mine first and then went through 4 different sets of seats . Get well. At least it wasn't that other bug going around. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I like them best with 7 inch chop. So thats where i put in some bars as a temporary roof. Next was to put in the seat as low and far back as possible with decent comfort. I now have about 2 inch above my head as is. I problaby want "1" more. This should give a 6 inch chop when all is said and done.
Have working on the transmissiontunnel the last few days. Turned out a bit crude but will be covered later on anyway. I wanted it as close to the gearbox as possible on drivers side for maximum footspace. I needed a removible cover on the right side to access the oilplug. And it all had to be removible if i ever have to remove the gearbox without cutting the floor out or lift the body.
On my car, the body is higher in relation to the transmission so I have a flat floor without the hump for the transmission and even there, I tried getting the cover for the shifter as close to the trans as possible for more room. These cars are tiny inside.
Thanks and happy new year to you to. If i ever build another hotrod it will be a 32. Big as a Cadillac so you just can throw in all stuff needed without to much thought. Thanks. Will be better when i grind down the welds.
Looks Wartime Aviation inside...thats Hotrod 1946......Happy New Year @AndersF cheers to a better future...and more Hotrod...
Have been staring at my grilleshell for a while. It was just chopped off to serve as mock up. But how to finnish it? Straight edge or use the pice i cut off? This dont look bad at all but my crossmember and springclamp is in the way. But i decide that i could modify the bottompart to fit so i welded it together. I cut off a pice to clear the springclamp. Cut the sides and bend them forward to clear the crossmember. Took a pice of sheetmetal to make a cover for the springclamp. Made some beads and folded the sides. Could then start to fit it in place. Could then fold the top and weld it all in place.
Looking good Anders. What are your plans for the grille insert? I used a 4 1/2" chopped grille insert from Speedway on my car; easier than cutting one down.
I couldn't make up my mind what looked better but after seeing what and how you put the lower section on i can say you did good. It looks right. JW
The biggest one that will fit. Its made for Datsun and where choosen becouse the size and outlets. It supposed to cool 250 hp. With no hood i hope its enough. The core is about the same size as the one made for model T with Ford smallblock. Its just the tanks in top and bottom that are bigger then this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Row-Perf...Datsun&hash=item1cd29dbede:g:0S4AAOSwIFtaDfW8
Not a big update but something that have to be done. Removed the frontdrums to mount the brakecylinders i gonna use. Could then plan for a bracket to get the brakefluid out to the wheels from the frame. I used a 3mm (about 1/8) sheetmetal to make the brackets.
Hey Anders, glad to see your back to grinding away! Your foot room looks as good as anything in a T that I've seen especially with 3 pedals. Mine has a 8" chop and I am at about an 1"/1 1/2" and works good. Looking good!
Doors part one. I need doors so that is what i have working with now. Had bought me some universal hinges to use but they did not fit very well. Problaby more suitible for a 32. I have hinges on my doors but all exept one was missing on the body. So i decide to make the parts that was missing and use the ones on the doors. I started to drill out some 5/8 roundbars. Fitted them in the hinges on the doors. Tacked some steelplate to it. Then took it apart for proper welding. Could then hang the doors in place. Now i just have to adjust them properly. But that is next on my list to do.
I need a fan to help me keep the enginetemp where it should be. A mechanical fan was out of question becouse my waterpump is in height with the upper tank on my cooler. And this is the reason i use a 32 grilleshell. The plan is to use a pusher fan and hide it behind the grille. So with some measureing i bought a 15 inch fan. But it stick a bit above the cooler so i had to modify the coolerframe. Then i made a lower bracket that bolt to the coolerbolts.
Hey Anders! I had to rebuild 2 of my hinges also. Did it pretty much the same way, making sure to keep the hinge square. Nice work.
I dont know if anyone still remember but this car is the main inspiration for my build. That mean i have to adjust the roof height on my car. My goal was 7 inch but i ended up with 5. That to make sure i pass the tech inspection when that come. But allso to keep decent comfort in it. After all i am 55+ and dont get any younger. I lowered the rear window 2 so that got 3 inch chopped. Since the header above the windshield was so mangeled i made a new one instead to chop it. Had to do it in 2 pieces since my breaker was 3,5 inch to narrow. The height was dictaded by the least needed to mount the wiper mechanism. Then i cut my roof 5 inch down all the way around except the rear window to avoid to cut in the curves on the corners. Clean the pices and hang them on the body with clamps. Then cut and welded where i think they meet good. I had to straighten the pices above the doors and the welded them to. Last was the windowframes on the doors. Did the same as the sides and made them fit together. But since my doors dont work perfectley i did not weld them yet.
