Can't do pics but my 40 has the Red's headers on a 48 block. Plenty of clearance with the stock steering box,

I just ordered a set with the exhaust extension. I'm wondering if I have enough room to install them without puling the motor out?
and I'm curious how they look in the engine bay
    thanks guys

I hope to fire mine up and pull it out of the garage today for it's weekly start up and run. I'll take some pics when I get it outside. The install of the headers was pretty easy. Hardest part was getting the sections between the headers and mufflers positioned correctly and bending the flanges on the Smithy mufflers to the correct position.

I lightened Zax's photos up a tad so you can see the details better. I didn't plan on making the first one that much larger though. Zax header (2).JPG Zax header 2 (2).JPG

I have to do that a lot on my photos that I take of detail items like that. Those headers do fit well on that car.

    Awesome, thanks guys!
Looks like you can put the headers on with the engine in place?

Yes, installation of the headers did not require moving the engine in any way. Just had to jack up the car high enough to have room to work. I think one side I installed from the bottom and the other the top. But I don't remember which.

I did have to use a Sawzall to make some cuts to the old exhaust sections in order to get it out though. Also in case you didn't know two of the six exhaust bolts are larger than the others on each side. Make sure you keep track of which goes where.

The two big bolts go at the front port on each side.

I have Reds' headers on my '42 with a '53 Mercury engine. Not hard to install. One thing of note, though, there is very little room for the left side pipe to go through the frame hole under the clutch pedal arm.. Interference with the clutch pedal can be a problem. The 59AB block is just little bit smaller in size than the 8BA/8CM so it may not be an issue for you.
A little bit of tweaking will do it.
