Much to my dismay My Son left Montana and moved to Florida 1 1/2 years ago. I was 40 when I had him and my wife took off with another guy when he was 6 months old so it was just him and I from then on. So I put my big boy pants on and raised him by myself. He graduated from High School at 16 and then went into the Navy at 18 and traveled the world working on F-18 jets on the George Bush Aircraft carrier. When he got out he came back to Montana until he was offered a job in Florida working on F-18 Jets again making BooCoo Bucks. So Good for him and Iam really proud of him and have always been Very Close to him. He just got engaged and bought a New Home. His Birthday is 2 days before Christmas on the 23rd. He also has been working on cars and getting the most Horse Power he can get out of a engine. He really good at it. He still has a Chevy Colbalt with a 4 cyl making over 400hp sitting at my house here in Montana. So Anyway I wanted to get him something special this year for his 25th birhtday so I had a friend paint this 1950 Chevy Pickup Door to hang in his garage. What do You think? IMG_0868.JPG

That thing is killer! Congrats dad for stepping up and doing what was right by your son. He's successful for a reason.

Thanks Guys, Your comments brings tears to my eyes. I was going to haul his Colbalt and this door down to him leaving Montana on Jan. 4th and then go to the Mecum Auction at Kissimmee but with The Covid I'am going to put it off for awhile.

Probably a good idea with Covid and the weather might be a bitch as well. Should be a nice surprise on his 25 1/2 birthday this summer. Great story. Sounds like you raised a good son.

An inspirational story to finish off a rather non-inspiring year. Thank you.

  9. Great on you - being a single dad you should get a lot of credit for raising such a good kid - oh man. Thank him for his service as well.....oh and nice door work !

  10. Another one leaves the nest. Be proud, sounds like he's doing well and that suggests you did well also.
Besides, Florida's a great place to visit most any time of the year.

I think he got a better gift than that door. But yeah, he'll love that.

Excellent, well done. My guess is there are a fair number of us whose father was their best friend. If he doesn’t realize that yet, he will over time. Nobody is as big a fan of him than you, and that’s pretty special.

What a great read first thing this morning-you are truly inspiring to all the Dad's out there who are raising their children alone. Well done sir!

That’s quite the present And, judging by your story, he’s making his mark in the world. Looks like Christmas in July is in order!

  27. OP, while I read your first post, I could see the top half the of the picture, my brain filled in the blank and I thought it was going to say "Uriah's Heap" (a play on words for the rock band name Uriah Heep).

    Great gift!

Very cool story and good for you for seeing it through with him. Not an easy way to go! Nice artwork too. He'll appreciate it.

A couple of my friends called today and ask who painted the door. It was Brett McGinley at McGinley Motorsports in Bozeman, Montana. He is a Real Artist and does incredable work. He has a good Facebook Page at McGinley Motorsports. I feel he builds some of the Best Motorcycles and Cars in his shop in this area. Here is a couple more he has done and lots more on his facebook page. The Marilyn Monroe he did on the underside of the hood on a 1953 Buick Rivera. And back to my son I have never had one problem with him ever! I have been blessed! 574453_10151467581720316_749385752_n.jpg 554301_10151467581980316_954163010_n.jpg 24291613_10212252497562297_8910351189032053045_o.jpg 46436449_10213091611065513_3731403007636537344_n.jpg
