Found this old vintage tin Japan friction race car last week. It was falling apart but not in bad shape as far as the graphics, the mechanism and the wheels. The drivers head was missing. Visiting Family in Michigan so I stopped to see Julian at Thomas Toys to get parts for some of my projects. He did not have an original head but set me up with one that I could modify to fit. My Daughter-in-law gets all the credit for doing a very nice job painting the drivers head for me. Never was a big fan of these cheap Japan toys but I kind of like the way this one turned out, so for now it is a keeper.

These are all from one estate sale, except for the Coke can, which I found in an out of the way cabinet at work. this style of can came out in '64 I think, and some machinist long ago cut the top off to use it as a cutting oil can.The IBM oil can I bought because I thought it would probably be good quality, useful stuff. It turns out it is a good light machine oil. The red two gallon can has Jensen's Service, and AAA, and 30 in the weight space, stenciled on it. If anyone has any info on where it came from, please let me know, I haven't found anything yet. I'm thinking it's from a generic manufacturer who would put their customer's name on the can, for resale.
The 2 big cans contain just the bronze powder to mix with clear paint. I've used a little from the U.S. Bronze Powder Works can on a Victorian table that I fixed up years ago, and it looked very nice. The can in the middle has the powder in the bottom part. you pry off the top to get to it. The liquid (yes, it's still liquid) is in the top, with the screw off lid.
A couple of signs in my shop, had the Coke and Pepsi for 30 odd years.... Sent from my SM-G955F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Might be some tin in this cheese-grater dragster. Made from household parts like graters, mini-loaf pans (valve covers) flour sifter (oil pan), round cake pans (rear wheels), meat grinder (front wheels), spice grinder (intake), and vintage vacuum cleaner elbows (exhaust).
Old large trolley car by Dayton. I added the decals but they came from a guy in South Dakota who takes photos of actual train cars and then transposes the graffiti onto a waterslide decal.

I remember getting a tin gas station when I was about five, I also remember cutting my fingers up trying to open and close the garage doors! Still my favorite toy in my memories, don't know what happened to it or where it went. My mom had a habit of making things disappear sometimes.
