A lot of these renderings are deceptive. I believe people knew that and took these adds the the required "grain of salt".

Most of these cars did not look like this in real life. That's why it's renderings rather than photos on most of these...Some of the adds are truer to life like the Model T adds. Most of these especially the late 40s to 60s adds "have some work done."
The people are too small in the interiors. Those folks are about 2/3 real humans. Most of those cars were not that low. Most of them have their rooflines "chopped".

As said above, this is art not reality and I think most folks expected, or at least accepted it with tounge in cheek back then.

They ad art was quite notorious at one stage. I was about to say the same thing.

The use of renderings, instead of photos, probably had to do with the available printing technology and costs involved, especially in color.

F-ONE nailed it. You got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative. Model car box art was the same. Then it all was replaced by actual photos. I have to assume at some point there was a lawsuit about false advertising.

I think the majority of the images or renderings were extremely well executed and very close to what the cars looked like, I agree there were some that are very much artist interpretations but for the most part the fords and Chevy's look spot on.

Pontiac's AF/VK ads and catalogs of the '60s were absolutely the best. Art Fitzpatrick did the cars, and Van Kaufman did the backgrounds. I was a trans design major at Art Center during those years, and many of my classmates watched for each month's new ad and stashed them away for future study.

This is a wildly inaccurate rendering of a '34 Victoria, but it's a really nice looking car if you don't think of it as a Ford!

Interesting that there's no Tudor shown in this ad (not counting the Victoria, which is a completely different body).

Kind of like the old golden era of concept car drawings. A ton of these renderings didn't survive and were trashed.

I was planning on building this 40 Willys crew cab to haul my 34 Willys coupe. Both of which I had yet to build. Dreaming and planning can only get you so far, money and energy get you to the finish line. Sadly all I have are the dreams and the artists renditions.
