  4. Great project. Member @wfo guy posted some pics a few days ago. Also a 1955 pic of the chop on a '32 coupe. Would,nt it be nice if it was the same car. He,s in S.W. Kansas so probably not the same but all you need is one good photo to get the history search going.

Be a shame to channel a car that still has all the subrails there yet , if you leave it on to the frame and find out significant history it ain’t too far gone

    Pulling the frame out.
My previous owner said he put that rear end setup in but never ran it.

Sorry I didn’t use his full name. Posting his user name like I did will give him a notification to come look at the thread.

I guess I just assume everybody knows who he is. On the off chance you don’t, check the hot rod shelf of your book case. He wrote the good ones.

I figured it was him but wasn’t sure what handle you were using.... H.A.M.B., Facebook, Instagram....

I reached out on Instagram and his son got back to me and said not enough to identify it...‍♂️

When I signed up for the HAMB I should have chosen a better username, but I didn't know what I was doing then. But this thread found me.
First--O.T.--nearly all the history of the Graffiti coupe (including Jeff Beck's version) was written by me. I interviewed the people who found it , and the ones who rebuilt it. Besides the chopped top, it was red, full-fendered, had black and white custom upholstery (including trunk), and chrome--a show or magazine quality car. I asked any readers who knew anything about it to contact us. Nada. Nothing. To this day.
This car has a nicely chopped top, but that might have been a few owners ago. A plywood firewall (especially), and canted taillights do not indicate show or magazine quality to me. The main point is that there were literally hundreds of rods like this, just in the L.A. area, from the '30s through the '60s. Trying to trace or identify one, especially with so few clues, is usually impossible, and a major waste of time and energy.
You've acquired the car from an apparent hoarder--a miracle in itself--so put all your energy, time (and money left) into building it into whatever version of a cool '32 chopped hot rod you really want. No strings attached. You got it. It's yours. Now build it!
That's Zen hot rodding, in the best sense.

I believe the wooden firewall was a mechanical choice by my previous, or even another 3rd owner that I know of.

When bought my previous owner said the floors were cut out for him to “channel it” but he said he didn’t know what he was doing.

He said he bought it with early ford running gear. I believe this car was a mid 50’s car that was Attempted to be styled in the early 60’s.

I’d love to find more but if the car could only talk.

I am gonna build it my way but just wanted to have any documentation with it.

It’s getting channeled, drag slicks, and LOUD PIPES!!!

I am sure when another owner decided to channel it the firewall was not used. Hence the wood one by my previous owner.

The fenders in the rear were re-cut by my previous owner.

He said when he bought it that guy gave him “ugly front cycle fenders” with it

The car has changed hands and be “restyled” I believe it was originally done in the mid 50’s

    Better than an axe...;)

Sometimes there are multiples with filled previous offerings...

I'm trying to find a mid 50s pic that had just that, angled teardrops...mind you it was an A Roadster.

    Top Left hand corner...canted 39s

That's what I was thinking. Pop open a beer, turn on the computer and search for LA car show coverage in the early '60s and look carefully at each photo for those taillights, the top chop and a flathead or early sbc. You never know.

I also noticed that their is no location to mount a shock.
The friction shock mount was cut off and no where else to mount shocks. This typical? Not run any shocks??

Unusual maybe but not unheard of. I’d add some tube shocks.

This seems easy enough but that inter-web just fills my search with BS.

I have gone over the Kustomrama site and other social media.
Where else is the places to search large car shows, events, drive ins,???
