Hand fabbed from a sheet of 18 gauge. Bit of a nod to an oil bath design. Hides three new style round air filters.

    Probably more modified than custom.
I took an old oil bath air cleaner with nice patina and very carefully (almost surgically) cut out some of the inner stuff where required with my plasma torch, so as to convert the body of the air cleaner to accept a modern day filter element.
It was a smoky exercise at the time, but I figure worth it.
I wanted something large enough to help full the engine bay more that what most air cleaners would do...

  11. Hey Shift wizard, that brass cymbal would make an awesome air cleaner top!

By the way, what do you call a guy who hangs around with musicians?

    (A drummer...)

Actually, I'm not a musician or a drummer myself so that's really funny. I CAN play the radio, however.
I just have stuff. I might make a gas pedal out of an old bass drum pedal pert-near soon.
    :D
All of you are witnesses. I am the inventor of the cymbal air filter hat. You saw it here first. (Not true, not even close. I'm late to the party, again.)

Or you can look at LBCD’s post of the cymbal he’s been running as a lid, over in the vintage drum thread.

  14. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely amend my post to reflect that, even though it was made in jest.

I might be missing something but
It looks like your fresh air doesn’t gets filtered piped into the inside of the element. But what do I know. Pretty cool forced air induction idea though.

This is a electrical service weather head and they come in 2" 3" 4" and 6"...

    I've also used Fat-Daddio cake pans. They come in 14"-15"-16".. I liked the 4" x 16" pan with a 14 x 4' filter..
