1957 Pontiac Chieftan Hello, As we all know that the factories all involved, under the cover of the mother company, made changes in their versions of the frames, wheels and body styles with small things specific to their brands. Individuality with the factory approval, so as not to step on the other similar body styles of the other GM factory cars. The Pontiac two door sedans of the time period were just as nice, but did not go over well with the buyers. Similarities between the 1957 Chevy and 1957 Pontiac were slight, but different enough to make a difference in sales. The Pontiac took a back seat to the Chevy Bel Air. Jnaki But, when you saw this grille coming down the highway, you knew it was a Pontiac. VERSUS
Hello, This fabulous original artwork by @garycampesi fits right in to the holiday spirit. A bright red/orange color, a fast well built roadster, and a great background for more drag racing adventures. There have been many photos and drawings of the famous 22 JR. roadster over the years. But, the original build was/is one for the books, as it was pretty amazing. Who wouldn’t want to see this roadster rolling up to the starting line at any dragstrip? My brother and I could not believe our eyes when we saw this ad back in 1962. We were two years out of drag racing and this would have been a possible next step in our adventures. Our choice was to build a modified roadster or competition coupe for the next level. But the long lasting burn recovery was difficult for my brother and his eyes said lets get it, but lets be careful. $1600 in 1962 ... Sounded good to a couple of brothers... I am sure he said that just to make me feel as if we were still involved in drag racing, not only with reading about it, but actually going back into competition. Back in his brain, my brother, really was finished with his desire to race again. Those powerful flames in a small compartment, feeling overwhelming odds at putting out the fire and stopping the Willys Coupe played a big part of his searching for another teenage outlet to make his mind as ease. Jnaki But, it would have been nice to see it in our backyard garage ready for our choice of modifications, and continue racing. Tony Nancy at Riverside Raceway December 1959
