  2. MMM.. thats usually what I like to have on New Year's Day. Only I don't like wine, prefer the southern sweet tea.

I think the drink is some type of expensive / high class sipping stuff, too many words and letters in it to be a beer. ;)

I'm Irish (Dad's side) but enjoyed a plate of tamales, rice & beans washed down with a couple of tall bottles of Pliny the Elder.

Traditional Turkey dinner here. Then sipping a little Makers Mark whilel kids and grandkids open presents. Followed by having to put everything together and finding enough batteries to go around.

After the fried turkey at Thanksgiving, my 79yo mother announced she & Dad wanted a Family Fish Fry as Christmas dinner. I brought the equipment & set up under the carport, and fried catfish, french fries, okra & hushpuppies for everyone, and with the other sides, we had a feast.

My wonderful wife was in a cooking mood, we had turkey Christmas Eve and ham on Christmas Day with all of the traditional sides. We’ll have plenty for sandwiches! I was enjoying an inexpensive but nice Spanish Tempranillo before and some Amaretto de Saronno on the rocks after dinner.

I have really enjoyed reading this particular thread. One of the great things about the H.A.M.B. community, is the fact, that there are so many members, of different origins, and different ages, and many different experiences, from so many regions around the planet.

For those in the know, "Veuve Clicquot ", is not in the same classification of the more than terrible, $6.00 a bottle of "Cooks " that is known for its ability to give you a bad hangover !

I can see you all rolling your eyes and thinking, "jeez, another bottle of French, snob, bubble water, that is pricey "

If you are going to enjoy Good high quality Champagne, that doesn't produce a bad hangover, this is an excellent choice !
The wife and I enjoyed a bottle of it last night, and its magnificent !
To quote the late, great, Hunter S. Thompson,

" Buy the ticket, take the ride "

Trust me, you wont be disappointed !

Happy new years to you all !
    Dennis.

And to all of those out there, that are dedicated to a certain taste, of a certain style of libation, there are other traditional brands, that will feel, more familiar! IMHO, YMMV.

  20. God has blessed me....I get the hangover after one small sip of wine so I don't drink it.
I missed out on being the stereotypical Irish drunk. :)
Now dark beer, mmm I can drink 2 of those before I can't walk.
