My 32 Nash interior door handles are gone. I’ve got pieces of the originals but they were cast pot metal and broke at the spline Long ago. The latch shaft is a 16 tooth spline with a major diameter of .427. The really old Nash parts just unobtainable. I’ve heard Auburn handles are the same, which makes me laugh because there aren’t any Auburn parts either. I don’t really care what they look like.
I’d imagine they sourced these things out back then and used a common vendor. Do y’all know of any other cars/sources that may have used a similar handle? I’m tired of climbing in and out like the dukes of hazard.

Have you tried any other door handles? My 38 Chevy has had 57 Chevy, 50 Buick as well as the correct year, the splines were all the same although the clip holding arrangement was a little different. If that dimension is totally different maybe going to a more common variety of mechanism might be your best bet. I've noted that the door opening mechanism in both the Stude and the Chevy are designed about the same way and serve the same function, are your window mechanisms original? I can understand how you would like to have them match.

I’m trying to find other handles that use the same spline.

  8. @F&J is a '32 Nash, & an Auburn owner.

If he doesn't answer, go to the AACA forum, and ask him there, same name.

Of course, you'll have to register, for an account, to do so. Frank is a wealth of information, everywhere.

I looked at Brent’s, nothing there will work. I’ve got a plan... going to make a set of shaft extenders like they sell on eBay , only machine the shaft for a square and use Ford handles.
I bought the one (actually 2... I can’t believe it, they are really rare) off eBay, but it’s basically useless. Small cracks in the 80 year old pot metal.... one good pull and swing from my hefty sister-in-law and it’d be laying on the floor. I’ll use the ford repops on the shaft adapters and keep the original ones in a box.
Thanks for all the help y’all!

can you not just grind a square end on the shaft to open up a wild list of options?
