  3. Amazing, no WWWs or 12 spokes. These can't be real gassers ;)

In your grandpa's day any car or truck with an engine swap and a pretty much stock body with fenders ran in gas class. Engine swap= Gas class. Most of the purpose built gasser race rig came after that.

  10. Well it's not a gasser, but it is an altered drag truck from the mid sixties. This picture is one of the few surviving pictures Dad took in his youth. File0035.jpg

OMG----- I see wide whitewalls!!! ( Why do some people say they never used them?:rolleyes::rolleyes: )

  18. They were far less common than your typical modern "gasser" built truck would lead you too believe. I was also referring to the guys that want to "gasser" everything. A full bodied F100 IS NOT gasser material for the most part. I think a lot of this can be attributed to the Ol School Rod phenomena. ;)

Tons of great pics and ideas Root!

If you scroll thru Mr Klasses this site, you would be surprised at how many ran whitewalls, (front-rear-front and rear.) Not trying to start an argument, but you can't make a blanket statement that very few cars or trucks ever had them, they ran what they could get. http://www.georgeklass.net/gassers.html

  23. If you look they mostly show up in the very early years only. This followed the development arc of race specific slicks.

I love how people get in a pissing match over shit that does not even matter, why not just enjoy the thread and if it's not your thing just move along.

  28. Root, as I view these pics I am truly amazed at the number of them built. Quite a few I was aware of but this thread has some real gems. Still say anything Panella Bros is about the cream of the crop.
