I am hoping these will help identify the car.
The taillights that are slightly pointed up and the dash.

He told me this car had different shaped bobbed rear fenders that he cut into the shape they are now.

He also said when he bought it it had early ford flathead running gear.

    PLEASE HELP!
I hope their is a picture of this car out there!!

Tells us how you originally discovered “this car” you’ve been hunting for over 4 years? Pretty cool man!!!!!!! I swear the hunt being discovered might be as exciting as the first trip around the block!

Am I seeing that right Daniel, it has a filled cowl vent? It also obviously has an un-filled roof. Can you take a closer picture of the imprint of the tail light? Might help identify them. The nice chop and chromed garnish moldings point to a really nice car when it was done. There are quite a few clues to go by here.

Good luck finding the history, and have fun building your hot rod!

  12. Outstanding! Nice score. I'd go for the antique drill press too, but that's just me.

  13. That's pretty cool! Hard to believe it was still out there, in the era of the internet. Hope you start a thread on the transformation, back to a running car. Your inspiration photo looks like Weesner artwork. Congrats on a great find.

  14. Color me green...with envy. That's going to be a lot of fun and discovery. Stop and think about every little quirky thing you find and consider when it was done and the minimal tools and skills he had in some cases. I had an A Vicky in the 70's that had been built with a flatty in the 50's. I learned a lot.

I originally found the car by a vague Craigslist car ad with no pics. It was 60’s Pontiac.
I was sorta interested and with some persistent made a date to see the other car.
I could tell he knew what he was talking about with cars.
I started looking around his yard and S**T myself when I saw the deuce.

    Typical “gonna fix it someday”
I offered $ that day for the body.
He said, “Wow. You are the only one who is willing to pay for it. Everyone wants something for free”. But if I sell you get “everything”
He said he would consider selling it someday. But if he does “All” the deuce stuff goes with it.

I’d call him about every other month and check in and even helped him sell some other stuff.

When my model A had a $ buyer I called him
And told him I would only sell my car to buy his deuce.
And 5 months later I collected everything from his house and got it home.

    It still is surreal...

That's the way to do it. Keep in contact, give out a real honest offer, let the seller decide when the time is right.

If you find out real history on this car, with pictures and whatnot, would you still change it around, or would you put it back to it's original configuration?

Well that’s just too cool. Nice the way you handled the purchase too, good for you. Liked the way you did your A, good eye for style!
Post some pictures of the tail light area, firewall/cowl area and let us in on where the car lived when he got it. That might help pin down a club affiliation, races and shows or magazine coverage it may show up in.
I see the frame has the ever popular multiple steering box locations too, lol.

Good for you. Now do all us young guys a favor and keep calling him and helping him out. Some of my greatest friends are old enough to be my dad or older.

Hopefully this will help identify the car.
The license plate was put on by the previous owner and not on when he bought it so that wouldn’t have been there....

I love Keith Weesner Hot Rod Art and the Dragg'in Deuce is my favorite, just SCREAMS Hot Rod. His work has been a major inspiration to me for many years.

So, is your Coupe from the California area? Have you been able to pin-point a county or town?
    Was is drag raced?

It’s always been in California/Los Angeles area.

Was told all early running gear with ford trans and banjo rear.

My previous owner kept blowing up transmission with the 265. (Even with zephyr gears that he gave me)

The Pontiac rear with ladder bars was put by him. Never ran in the streets like that.

Looks like it might have been white and some point. Chop looks well done and so do the shaved door handles.

Pic of the welding from the inside of the roof looks like superb gas welding, along with a very clean matching cut line. Impressive today, a masterpiece in it's time.
