We decided to have a little fun and pick the front end up to about where it will go the full 1/8 or 1/4 mile. While up it was a good time to see exactly where the window will need to be so the driver can see where he's going. 7-22 8.jpg 7-22 7.jpg 7-22 5.jpg 7-22 4.jpg

  2. That is awesome. Really gives the visual of it going down the track at that angle.

I appreciate you taking the time to so thoroughly walk us through how you build vehicles.

Sorry I haven't updated the progress lately. Haven't had much time to work on the truck but we have moved forward a little. Made the dash filler panel to tie it into the roll bar. Would have went lower but anything hanging below the roll bar will be in the way of seeing through the port hole in the floor when the wheels are in the air. The big hole in the fire wall will be lexan so the driver can see. IMG_1532.jpg

Next step is to make the wheelie bar. We couldn't find what we wanted for wheels so we just made them. They are fitted with really good sealed bearings because it will be riding on them for a long time. IMG_1449.jpg IMG_1615 (1).jpg IMG_1616.jpg

Welded inserts in the rear of the chassis to bolt 1" X 2" .125 wall tubing for the main support for the wheelie bar. IMG_1431.jpg

The two tied together with the same size tubing and a 3/16 plate on the inside of the wheel for more strength. Might be an over kill but we figure this needs to be strong. IMG_1618.jpg

A few shots with the front fenders on. Sharp eyes might notice we moved the truck to another location in the shop, hopefully on it's way to being finished and out the door. IMG_1555.jpg IMG_1558.jpg

I don't know how you make the time to build with all the things you have to juggle each day, but God Bless you and the team. I really enjoy watching and learning on this build as well as following all the SEGA races and teams.

  13. Great work, but who is Ted and are those his cigarettes in the bed rails?

Robert, Ted is looking over Gabe’s shoulder. Just double checking, I guess!

LOL Ted is the guy that comes by and sets on everything. Tom's cigarettes, he's not allowed to put them put in the floor so he leaves them laying on everything else LOL.

Not much time to work on the truck, been covered up with paying jobs but we made a little progress. Here we made some lower side panels to help the bed area look a little better. Added the small square tubing to support the sides. Might notice we have the intake removed so we can replace the modern intake that was on it with something more old school. wheelie truck 15.jpg wheelie truck 14.jpg

Made an aluminum jig to center the brake caliper bracket so it could be marked for the new bolt pattern of the old style housing ends. wheelie truck 16.jpg

A 6-71 blower would fit real good right there!

We have thought about that but it's just not in the budget right now. Will have to be an injected blower and NOT carburetors to be cool though.

Not exactly but about 30 total would be a real close guess. Several A/FX cars being built also. I have over 200 on the list now but not sure how many plan to be out in 2021. We had 117 of the over 200 active in 2020, even with all the virus BS going on. SEGA is out of control.

Looking good Quain. I thought you would use magnesium blocks on your wheelie bars? I think that is what the old timers used to make sparks. Strip owners might not approve?

  26. Titanium blocks are what makes the bright white sparks.

I didn't think you ever needed a window to look through to know where the center of the track or the guardrail was. :p. Yes I mean you!! Seen you out of sorts on the track plenty of times. LOL

Titanium is what they used but even that don't work today with the track prep and rubber base that is on the track's today, track prep ruined drag racing.
