I’ve always had a thing for ‘62 lightweight super duty catalinas.
Pretty sure that would be my choice.....

32 3 window.jpg I seen this coupe at the Ford Restorers club swap meet in Dearborn MI in July 1976 when I was 13, have dreamed of it ever since. just a wheel change and it'd be perfect. Is this car still around?

I'd just like to have 3 of my old cars back. 64 Chevy II station wagon, 50 Chevy sedan delivery & 57 Chevy 210 2 dr. post. Sold 64 Chevy II to my brother-in-law for $500, sold 57 Chevy 210 2 dr. post for $1000, & sold 50 sedan delivery to another brother-in-law for $800. If my foot could reach my ass I'd be kicking it for ever.

as of today, I would PAY somebody to work on a car, if I had stupid money. I tried to pull a 300 inline sixe from a 80s Econonline and I have never had an engine fight me that bad. If it wasn´t my dad´s van I would have quit. 6 hrs and it still isn´t out. Will pull all the EGR and injection system tomorrow to make more room. Just in case you hear a loud boom tomorrow early morning from the east over on the other side of the pond, that was me blowing this POS up.

  12. Quite honestly, If I had access to unlimited funds, I'd use it to track down, and restore my old Fairlane. MY old Fairlane. I mean chances are the car was blown apart for spares and the rest crushed, but I'd still search. While it wasn't a sports car or hot rod per se, and it's just barely on topic from '64, I have never felt the same sense of completion I had while I belonged to that car.

Spotted in a nice coastal city near one of the best restaurants around.

    Hello,

I am partial to 65 Chevelle cars. I wanted an El Camino SS version with a 396 c.i. motor, A/C, 4 speed, Positraction rear end, and bucket seats. All I got was a 65 El Camino with a 327, bench seat, automatic, no A/C, but Positraction. Disappointed? Certainly, when the same car was right in the showroom in bright shiny red.

It did not matter which of the 3 Chevy dealers in our So Cal area I went to, the answer was no. No El Camino of that nature existed. But, if I wanted a 65 Chevelle Malibu Sedan, it was there for the taking.

So, yes, I would spend money to build my old 65 El Camino with all the goodies I wanted in the fall of 1964 and I would have a one of a kind hot rod build. Perhaps, then the college experience would have included more trips to the Fremont Dragstrip, just up the freeway from our apartment.

As a matter of fact, at the time, all of the power stuff /bucket seating was available in a Super Sport Chevelle Sedan in 1965, but for some unknown stupid reason, not available in any El Camino, despite it being a Chevelle station wagon cut off with an open bed.

If I had waited one year, my friend ordered my version of his 1966 El Camino and he got the 4 speed, A/C, 396, Positraction and it was a fabulous hauler, plus, a very fast, powerful cruiser.

The Nomad of its time slot…

If one is to consider a 1965 Chevelle, it would have to be a two door station wagon with all of the above additions, including A/C. The hardtop design was the new two door cruiser version, since the larger Impalas grew so much that they went overboard and looked like big battleships rolling down the street. The Chevelles took up the sporty end and power to weight components for Chevrolet during these times.

    upload_2023-1-16_3-41-52.png Thanks, @themoose
Plus, we know the length of the bed is good for stretching out during camping road trips and coastal surf sleepovers. But, an enclosed similar area in the two door station wagon is good for security and convenience when it gets moist/wet with the morning dew in all areas of our road trips, then and now.

The 1965 El Camino was very handy and timely for us. But, these days, the Red, two door Chevelle Station Wagon would be our choice for daily driving and those long road trips we took prior to the pandemic...YRMV

Early Riveria, but first I'd have to move to a house with a larger garage. So many of my dream cars probably won't fit in the one I have.

  15. "Dumb money" for wish list cars...
I'd take the majority of the "Dumb Money" and spend it on buildings to house my "driver quality cars".
    Quantity not quality
Keep my '39 Coupe and '40 Convertible
    Add:
    Another '40/'41 Ford p/u
    '55 Nomad
    '65 Grand Sport Riviera
    '55 Cameo
    '37 Chev Coupe
    '53-'55 Corvette
    '55 Chev nasty 4 spd 210 coupe
'65 Chev SWB big window C10
    Early fifties Custom Cadilac Coupe
    To name a few.
But more than anything I'd attend a Barrett Jackson auction, and accept the auctioneers $50k/$100k increment bids without even a flinch, just to be like one of the "big boys" (I'm being strictly sarcastic here).

  16. Spend 7 figures for a pro shop to build my Riddler and GNRS winner then watch it sell for 300k at auction.
Now that would be an absolute blast.

Let's put it this way. I have a 2,000 sq foot building now.
I looked at a 4,320 sq foot building this past weekend.
    Tell you anything ?

    Substitute Boat with Building.......

A heavily customized 57 Chevy 2 door hardtop. There's no point in posting a picture because a) we all know what a stock 57 Chevy looks like, and b) my version wouldn't look much like it

  20. Friend of mine out grew his shop. Bought a empty Sam’s Club building.
    Over 140k sq ft.
I guess the 32k ft shop wasn’t enough
    :)
I like the way this guy thinks

  24. Well, I have owned just about all of my dream cars back when they were cheap used cars. So I guess now I would like another one of those. I would get another 59-60 Corvette, but this time a fuelie, turquoise and white or yellow and white.

    On the other hand...

I sometimes wonder why I don't just put something together like this simple little T roadster. I honestly think my smile would be just as big as with anything that a lot of money could do.
    Fast? Some would be surprised.
    Fun? Yes.
    Traditional? Yes.
    A complete time machine?
    YES!
