I don’t recollect ever seeing the earlier version . Always liked it in red, very cool coupe either way! Thanks for posting it.

Great to see even earlier photos of it. He sure had a lot of good times with that car.
The shadows of someone standing nearby are funny, one right on the side of the car. An early Craigslist photo? Lol

Great car and great pictures. I really like seeing the environment it was in, much simpler times.

  8. Just because a TJJ Blog (and the resultant H.A.M.B. thread) can never have enough pics, here's a few of the "DCB" Coupe at The 1958 NHRA Nationals:

  9. Man, the DCB coupe! One of my favorite hot rods. Thanks for all of the great captures of it. I didn't know of it's different versions until just a while back.

  11. Here's Texan Bobby Knighton and the DCB coupe. I work with Bobby's nephew, we called Bobby from work the other day, was talking racing and his old coupe. He is still in Houston.

Another “Blast from the Past”! Thanks for sharing how it used to be, street, street and strip, to full race, the natural progression of a hot rod. And probably all done at home, The Shadow Knows!

One of my favs at Nationals in Detroit in '59 or '60. Great car and great driver! Guess I'm mixed up 'cause I thought they ran a small Desoto with an Ardun as backup. I do remember the crew dressed in white. Thanks for posting. Fabulous memories

  14. Joey, for a young guy you do well. Thanks for taking time away from your roadster for the rest of us.

Thanks Nick! I appreciate it. I love soaking up as much as I can from this era. Don't you worry, I'll be back on the roadster next week.

Nick, if you get the chance to meet Joey, do it! As genuine as you will find, I caught him while he was working the TRJ booth at the last Jalopyrama. He is a great example of finding your passion, following your dream, and remaining true to the person you were raised up to be. As I have told him before, Your Parents should be Proud.

Hope so, but he is the West Coast rep. He wasn't going to able to make it this year, but who knows what next year will bring. Have a Merry Christmas, Carp.
