You will have to squint your eyes a bit but 1953 plates on the 53 Stude. My father in law thinks I'll get stopped for running YOM plates and then "they" might find something else wrong. That from the guy that had impromptu drag races in Omaha in the 50's:)
There's six inches of snow there now:( I have been collecting license plates for over 40 years, have most Iowa plates from 1913 through the 70's and many other state's plates, I was lucky enough to have had a pair of 53 plates hanging when I bought this car:) A couple of years ago at one of the swap meets my dementia kicked in and I bought a nice pair of 1958 plates for some reason thinking they were what I wanted:(
I hate getting old. 38 and Stude b.JPG

Not exactly legal I have a Ohio collector car registration and carry that plate in the car but just run around with this repop plate most of the time. It's the same as the 1952 New Mexico plate on the car in a magazine photo. I think the round thing on the old plate is a New Mexico Timing Assoc. badge. I have been waiting for this topic to come up. Several years ago I started looking for two old sets of plates
for my two cars. Than I found out that South Dakota had a terrible law covering YOM plates.
First we are the only State that does not use the term YOM, they are called Original Issue Plates.
The law would let you only drive your cars with YOM plates to and from a car show or in a Parade. Scan_0007.jpg Scan_0009.jpg Scan_0010.jpg Gov signature.jpg Papik Motors.jpg 1938 Chevy.jpg

If your plate means what I think it mean you've got one hell of a set gonads. Thanks for your service.

I have what I think is a rare plate on my roadster. I was told they were issued to high level government employees starting at the number 1.... progressing up to 6 digits to us common folks :). The people in the 'know' would get the same plate number every year. I also have the same plate number for 1934 & 1936 . In Minnesota the number on your plate is equivalent to a vanity plate. I 'own' A25.... but you must use the year of the plate on the correct year of car. Gives me future options if I sell my 32.
