    As of last nite... float tweaks have been made, and a batch of S and SR floats are on order from the metal spinner. Should be soldering in no time!

    Also was able to get the float bowl cover finished up...

    The float bowl cover is slightly different than an original, as it was designed to incorporate a modern fuel valve with viton tipped needle. I was also able to retain interchangeability with all the original float hardware and fuel inlet block, so this float bowl cover can be directly interchanged with an original.

    Now just have to build a tool for crimping the cover to retain the detent balls. Already have the stainless springs and balls to install.

    Thanks for the kind words fellas! I will continue to post progress rain or shine;)

    My hope is to make some good progress on the throttle barrel thru the holiday... if only there were fewer holiday obligations! What good is a day off of work if you can’t spend it out in the shop...?!:rolleyes:

    Simply amazing work!! I love the tumbled look but the polished looks even better.
    I recall reading (years ago) that down the street from Winfield's shop there was a place that plated a lot of bronze items like trophies and baby shoes and that that was the source of the "copper" plating. From this and the hint of plating left on my carbs I always assumed they were bronze plated.

    It took a bit longer than expected... but I’m finally ready to make some real progress on the Winfield S-B throttle barrel! After probably 150 hours of design and programming, I hope to finally start cutting on a block of aluminum tonite.:eek:

    To be continued...

    Was able to spend the day in the shop today, and made some good progress on the first operation of the throttle barrel. This one won’t be perfect as there were a few small “oops” moments along the way... but should finish out good enough to test with if I can avoid any major mistakes before finishing. This is as far as I could go with the tools on hand, and won’t be able to finish the center bore till I order a few special tools next week

    Jeez, Kevin;
    When you start marketing these, you may as well call the company; "Just Because I Can!" , because, well, you can. & very well I might add. :D .

    The original plan was only to make a few of the small parts... but you can see how well I am sticking to that plan?!

    The current plan is to produce the S-B downdraft carburetor in its entirety. I should be able to finish 5 complete carbs... then I’ll figure out if there is enough interest to make more... or maybe even other sizes...?

    I’m not exactly close to making this decision, but...

    Should I polish...?

    Or copper plate...?

    I’m thinkin copper plate!:D
