WOW! Great looking stuff. Is this all billet in a CNC machine, press the button and out comes a hub? I keep buying Lottery tickets, will call the day I win. :):):):) Bob

My hubs and caps are billet cut chromoly steel/manganese bronze, and the wheel centers are cast chromoly steel with all critical surfaces machined then ground and polished on the outer surfaces.

It just amazes me to think of all the machinery and fixtures it must take to make that first wheel, then perfecting it to mass produce others. Thank you for taking the time, I'm sure there is a huge investment of time and money, I will be a customer some day. Bob

it is a work of art, i have seen Kevins work before. now back to model T's, here's a photo of my bent up 27 that thanks to @Kevin Pharis can be identified by the one piece floor, attached to the quarters, with the front wall sloping up about 6" at the seat back. i originally thought the hump for the cross member had been squished down, but after Kevins description i see that it was flat, and in this case got pushed up from some form of abuse by the rear cross member. note two spit rivets that must have held some anti squeak fabric of some sort. Your trunk floor is bout the same shape as the one that was in my ‘ol roadster. Barely holding shape, and not good enough to straighten out. I was able to gain access to a Pullmax, and made up a new trunk floor that was just about an exact copy of the original. Have pics somewhere...

Is this a roadster or roadster pickup? It has a trunk floor, but smooth seat back and no attachment points for turtle deck.

Different styles of key hole in the deck lid. Not sure where I saved the bottom pic, perhaps it's an early T??

That is certainly the ‘26 trunk floor... but interesting that there are no holes for the trunk...? Seem to remember 2 bolt holes in each vertical and 2 just below the tack strip on my ‘27

[IMG]Rusty, What does that piece in the battery access hole attach to. I can understand why there is no rear crossmember bump, the floor sits on the rear platform that is about three inches tall. Great to see both style floors. Bob

If there are no pics... it didn’t happen... right?

I didn’t like the new trunk lid and below trunk lid panel. They just weren’t the right shape (no compound curve). I made the below trunk lid panel that fit right, but never got around to taking the trunk lid apart to put the right curve in it.

This car also was not equipped with a top, and still had the Bakelite plugs in the top iron holes

Just remembered there is an early and late dash, so maybe the under steering column bracket is slightly different too.

  14. What a great Tread!! (thanks Beano). After reading it twice i can say i can't ad anything new as it' been covered. I have been out and looked mine over and as i bought it as a 26 (hence my handle) it didn't take long to know it's all 27. Back when these were new, for $25 the dealer could sell you a pick up box to change you roadster into a pick up. Mine was a roadster as there is light pitting where the trunk was bolted to the main body. JW

It was back in the 1970's that I had an early and late one, I think the sweep on the bottom differed. Bob

I’ve had (2) 27 roadsters and they both had 2 nuts/bolt holes along each vertical. I’ve never seen one without them. Maybe they didn’t have them early on and later found they needed additional attachment points for the trunk.

Thanx for the info. According to the old R&C article these were Buffalos. The article also has some better photos.

That pic is a lot more clear! Definitely Buffalo, size #4 or possibly #4.5, with 18” lock ring rims. #4 Buffalo wheels are like hens teeth, and #4.5 are almost non existent. There were also several variations of wheel centers in these sizes... could be B, CB, HC, or MS series wheels.

I helped a guy put together a set of #4 Buffalo hubs years ago. He had scrounged up 4 hubs, and had an original set of wheels... but the hubs wouldn’t interchange into the wheels! I systematically trimmed and resized a couple of the hubs so they would all interchange

I'm sure that is an in house machining secret, but it would be fun to watch. Bob

Per this thread, I have a 26 and a 27. Both have a raised area on the seat back and are not flat like that other pic. And I did find a couple of differences in the dash panels between the years. Like was pointed out about that bump where the top of door meets the cowel, one is also bumped out. Also, the stamping for the choke is different

Yeah, I think the difference in thswoop on the bottom may be between a roadster and a closed car. You did intrigue me Bob and made me go take a gander. Hope all is well over there. Thanks, ty

I find these threads to be a lot of fun, and educational. This is a NOS Stewart Speedometer that would fit in the hole of the dash you posted. I've had it for over 40 years a gift from Doc Mead, hope to have a '27 to put it in some day. Bob DSCF0827.JPG DSCF0828.JPG
