Neat thread. Lots of great before and afters. Mine is still in progress. Little changes don't look like much at this point.

    Wait...what the...?

  4. I really enjoyed this rebuild....got it cheap...spent a boat load on it...and then it would not go over 52mph...so we sold it...I called it "Howard Knapp"...it even smelled like an old heap...

The start of my Model A coupe: upload_2020-12-16_1-2-31.png

Built a frame for it: upload_2020-12-16_1-5-50.png
Ended up looking like this: upload_2020-12-16_1-8-21.png

Car has since been sold to western Canada, if any one has seen it, would be interested to hear about it or see pictures of how it has evolved.

I know it just barely squeeks into HAMB. Been and still is a good ride. Original with a tired 350/350, broken Cragar copy wheels and sun bleached interior.
    upload_2020-12-16_21-27-29.png

58,000 miles later a new 406/700R4, new interior, new wheels and good for another 50,000 miles. A good solid ride.

Here another 1 did. 1934 Plymouth coupe. Looked cool when I got it. And relized it was really cobbled together. Did a complete rebuild, chopped, channeled, big block with a Clutch-flite. 57 - 64 Olds rear. 20181123_103455.jpeg image(4).jpeg

A rough 34 master sedan was the start point in our quest to build a 34 sedan delivery. This was about 5 years back, and we probably should have waited and found a better donor.

Still a long way to go, but it does show that with a vision, and a couple of talented body men, the impossible is still possible. Car will stay fenderless but will get a bonnet/hood to cover the engine.

And the start of the rear door. Measured around the rear window to get the shape across the top (I think its just under 3 inches but the main thing was to follow the lines) and then a plumb bob on down for the sides. Tail lights are 39 Chev sedan items.

First was in pictures sent from PO as was ready to ship.
Bottom is after wheel, tire, suspension updates to front and rear, and, of course, the installation of a 425 cubic inch Buick engine with switch pitch turbo 400 transmission out of a 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport.
PS: Here's the engine that came in it... a 1932-34 Ford four banger with a 5 speed behind it.

The cab is in my 40 pickup that I built from a number of cars and trucks and the bed in in the pickup that by pal, BobbyBuilt put together. Bad Bob is MUCH faster at getting new ones on the road these days!! And they are great cars and trucks!

This is the result. Somebody on Fordbarn or the HAMB named it the "36 Fordy" which seems pretty appropriate.
It has a 36 car dash, complete with super rare no-hole waterfall, as well as 36 bumpers and taillights.
I tell folks it is a 1936 Ford Super Deluxe pickup. Many then reply that they hadn't seen one before. I then replay, "They didn't make many." and walk away.

36 car taillight stands were tweaked to fit the 40 rear fenders. I even located the gas filler tube in the stock location... for a 1936 Ford!

my 40 standard, running driving car when I bought it. drove it home to Omaha from St Louis. drove it all summer 2008 to find bugs. tore it down in fall & had it media blasted. 7 layers of paint, lots of rust, needed patch panels on both door bottoms, rockers, quarter fronts, tail panel, fenders were shit but we salvaged them to keep it all steel. car purchase included 4 fiberglass fenders & running boards not installed. took 4yrs to rebuild it from top to bottom. 5-9-08d.JPG 5-9-08e.JPG 5-9-08g.JPG 1-12-2012 cowl.JPG 1-12-2012 cowl.JPG 6-1-12a.JPG 6-14-12b.JPG 6-15-12d.JPG 2016-04-26 00.54.53.jpg 2015-03-06 20.43.05.jpg goodguys 6-29.jpg
