History 79th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, let's see car's & truck's from that era.

I would like to know if there were any hot rods around Pearl Harbor in 1941.

This truck was supplying farmers in the Franklin Ohio area at that time.

 

My 36 Ford pickup has been in our Montana town for over 50 years. I got it from a good buddy in 2005. He told me it showed up from California in 1965. When I began disassembly an employee ID badge from the Consolidated Steel Wilmington Shipyard where Victory ships were constructed during WWII feel out from under the dashboard. So to me this old pickup, like my Dad, is a WWII Veteran.

 

Wish I had a photo. My dad turned 16 during the war and was allowed to work 4-12 in a factory while still in high school. His dad worked alternating days or midnights in another factory. They shared a 36’ Plymouth sedan that my dad swears was worn out before the war, but they kept patching together. They had a ragged 37’ Dodge pickup, but took it off the road because tires were rationed and they thought others needed them more and didn’t want to seem greedy.

Here is the employee badge I promised last night that I found in my 36 Ford pickup. The story I was told is the pickup showed up in 1965 from California with a dual quad Cadillac 331. It was traded for
a mild custom 59 Impala (sorry no pics). The Caddy engine was pulled for another project and the pickup languished untouched until I got it in 2005. It now has a 56 DeSoto 330 hemi with a GM 350
TH trans. I had a four speed ready to go in but lost my right leg to bone cancer in 2014. An automatic trans then became a requirement. I've had a blast driving it since then.

 

That badge is a real treasure, sorry to her about your battle with cancer, as with everything in life we adapt and live to fight another day. HRP

They weren't all heroes.. Ford did war work at cost plus a dollar to avoid the 'war profiteer" label.. Harry Bennett viewed 'cost' differently and basically stole as much as he could, the parties they threw at Willow Run were legendary, women were hired to 'staff' them..
