  4. Putting the final touches on the full Buick brake set up on the '31. Still a bit of machining left to get everything lined up. Missing some parts in my brake kit, not surprising at all

They're a Dodge Full-sized produced from 1962 to 65. Was replaced by the Monaco.

Going out for a drive. They will be salting the roads soon... Once the salt comes out my car goes in.. I saw what the salt/calcium to my car cruise buddy's car. It got under the chrome and ate holes in those fenders like you wouldn't believe. The car was from Texas and never experienced salt. I'm guessing there was a lot of exposed steel under that chrome and that gave corrosion a big fat welcome sign..

I also spray the inner fenders, rockers, frame. with spray grease.. I use laniolin base grease where rubber bushings are. The grease will also eat rubber..

The Rupp Chaparral is done as far as I’m concerned now I just need some great grandchildren to run around on it. Probably need to by gasoline at the pharmacy to use. Even with my 6’1” frame and 190 pounds I can still run it wide open breaking the speed limit in front of my house.

I cleaned up my valve covers a little more today and sealed them with PPG epoxy primer, I used the heat lamp on them for a couple hours, sanded the nubs out of them with 600 grit. I let them sit for a while longer then sprayed them with black base coat and clear coated them. I really needed to do something, and I'm kind of out of things to do, so I went out and unbolted the connecting pipe on my flathead. Can't wait for real hot rod headers. Reminds me I need to get the water system sorted out so I can really run it.

Decal sets it off nice... I like a black engine... there’s a thread about guys not liking them but they look good to me especially with an natural aluminum manifold.

Finished the wiring in my shop, except connecting the whip to the CNC mill. The calibration service will take care of that.

Took the sunliner out for a test drive trying to determine what is wrong with the used trans I just installed, when I got back to the garage and while adjusting the idle that engine is too noisy and will step up the process to put the Y block back in. The 351-W I have in it was not built with the cam I wanted and most likely just slapped togather with mismatched parts so time to start over.

I am sorry, but you are what?

Today, I made a deal with my son, we should do more work on the cars. He motivated me to get our ass in gear and start building again. I love him :)

Finished the base under dash panel for my AC. Tomorrow the 1/4” padding and peacock vinyl. Took way more time to fit and cut the holes than I thought it would. FF686233-33BD-4709-BC62-5F877A635787.jpeg

I cleaned the garage out and hosed the car down with hot water. Put it in the garage and set the de humidifier on hi 40 for the weekend. Its clean and dry now.. I'm replacing the gas tank and changing the ignition on the 454 to Points/Vertex CD box and installing a mechanical tack. I'm hoping I can mount it on the steering wheel. I'm hoping to find a nice black bench seat so I can take the buckets out. I just love the look of a bench seat with a Hurst floor shifter in a el Camino..
