1970-TG-Finals WCBS.jpg First qualifying run at World Finals left lane with too many changes. Car ended up on its head at about 800 feet when it went into a giant wheelstand.

    Ah yes, the Fantasia, AA/FA.
A huge car as Fuel Altereds go. Always liked seeing that car at Irwindale, back when I was a kid. While it was cool to see, you always knew that it wasn't going to go many rounds of racing.
Too big and heavy, but cool nonetheless.
And great, huge billows of smoke coming out of those fenders leaving the starting line.

Man that’s a great pic! I have a 67 gto that used to run at US 30 dragstrip in Hobart Indiana. Not a race car, but it used to run there. Been trying to hunt up some pics.

Local racer (Paramount, CA.) Bill Henderson's Fantasia. He later switched to drag boats, all named Rated X and I think all jet drives. Bill owned a canvas business, Mr. Canvas also in Paramount. I ended up going to high school for one year with his son, Billy, but barely knew him as he was 3 years younger.

The boat pic is waaaay off topic and I'll remove it if needed but it shows the end of Bill's drag racing. If I remember right this was Billy's first time in the seat of his dad's boat but he was an experienced drag boat racer in his own right.

  16. I spoke to Billy Lynch yesterday, he said he bought that body for $10, it was lying in mud and the bottom half was rotted away...he slowly built it back into the race car you see here...it was definitely the beginning of his career for him.
