I like the rear pans on the Chevy pickups but with those years I’ve never seen one I liked without a front bumper, the oversized grille just doesn’t allow it.

I like the nerf on my pickup.

Got tired of my nerf and installed a tight fitting bumper on the coupe.

Depends on the car but, in general, I like bumpers on my cars. I like chrome. To me, it is the jewelry on the finished product.

I'm on the fence on my Model A. I'm thinking about making some kind of nerf bars front and rear.

It may not have a bumper but I love the shiny spreader and hinge bar. As far as the pressing matter at hand...
(In the spirit of Tom T Hall)
I love bumpers on trucks, on hi-boys they suck, on race cars they're gay,
    no way
I love long-roofs and vans , 3 door 'burbans, nomads with wires,
    and 'squires
    Sans bumpers just won't do.

Have bumpers due to all the distracted drivers in metroplex. A little bit of security from the from them and original equipment.

I wanted my '40 pu to have a race shop theme, so I brewed up some tubular bumpers. front and rear, to go along with the sideboards. The front can be removed and be replaced with a push-board in a few minutes, for use at the races. IMG_1269.JPG IMG_3569.JPG

Those look good Marty. Kinda like a nose guard on the old football helmets we use to wear.

I like them with the bumpers almost always. There are a few exceptions of course depending on the car. Now painted bumpers I hate always.

Depends on the car or truck. Most look better with smaller than stock bumpers, especially 40’s and some 50’s models. A 55 or 56 Chevy look Ok without a front if it’s got a drag race stance, but a 57 without a front bumper looks like an old man that lost his bottom tooth plate, like his upper lip is hanging over his lower one. The curved down upper bar kills it, the 55 & 56 are straight and flat.

I prefer a smooth bumper without guards on it on most cars, but those where the guard surrounds the license plate look ok. I’m thinking about reversing mine front to back and back to front. Front has a license recess while back is smooth. I think they’ll swap by just drilling new holes for the brackets, they are in different places on each one.

Absolutely improved the look of your car in the second picture! But, I'm a Torque thrust fan also.

Always liked the tri-5's without front bumpers. Especially the gasser look.

Not a fan of the painted bumpers myself. But, they do work with some cars.

  17. only if they came that way from the factory, bumpers that were originally chrome shouldn't be painted IMHO. HRP

Stock bumpers on a custom or rod are pretty hard to beat

Stock bumpers always look better. No bumpers gives an unfinished look.

Minimal: 1-1/2" SS tube rear. I wouldn't call that a front bumper, but it kinda hints at one. Stock "T" front bumpers stick out there too far.

  29. I depends on the car- some look good with and some look wrong without. For the most part I like bumpers on forties cars. 46-48 Fords have wide splash aprons that tend to
Look bulky on some of them. I split hairs on my 47 and tucked the bumpers closer to the body which meant narrowing the splash aprons and re working the bumper irons. It’s a subtle but effective compromise
