My LSR roadster when I bought it and took it drag racing at Orange County Raceway. Didn’t look like this very long after I bought it. DEEBFEF5-7B82-4233-A672-E5E95E20EB62.jpeg

Truth there, Very few hot rods even the high dollar ones had narrowed rear axles in the 70's. Tub and narrow the rear on your 55 Chevy gasser to get the slicks inside the fenders? Unheard of then as that cost money that could be spent on speed parts if anyone even thought about it.

My tires mostly fit on my '39 Chevy. But hang out a bit.

A little more on my Austin.

And a bit more on my old Falcon.

Yes sir ! That car is wild, I would love to own it.
I have a picture somewhere of them unloading it from a enclosed trailer where it had been stored since the late 70's

I narrowed my 59 Pontiac rear 6" for my coupe, which got it to just about the width of an early Bronco 9". I couldn't go any narrower, either, and still run the rear spring.

Brent- here is the picture of my friends 40 Coupe coming out of the storage trailer, he began racing this car in the mid 60's and was a multi time winner.

This tub is owned by Russ and it rocked me the first time I seen it. It gave me the impression I could actually afford to build one. With it simplicity in looks, painted steel rims. I want to say it was done when the smooth billet cars were common. Russ, you need to get on it and bring it back out. S 15.jpeg S 16.jpeg
