Here is the set up we did on my 1951 Mercury M3.
I do not like the mis-aligned, cut your legs up dual pipes coming out from under the back bumper, so I tried this.
Found a used Ford header at the the swap meet for $10.00, seems to not know which direction the air is flowing.
If you need to know, the frame was done in Candy Apple Black Tremclad (way better than Rustoleum) with a lint-free roller.

  2. Tremclad is Canadian for Rust Oleum, right? Nice truck!

  3. We can get both Tremclad and Rustoleum in Canada. Often side by side on the shelf. They are both owned by the same company as far as I can tell.

By the way, happy Thankgiving to all my American friends. Here in canada today is just another day. :)

    Artillery Wheels
Also has Mercury Big Job hood spears - extremely rare. Side Grain chute, additional running boards above the rear fenders so the farmer could kneel and shovel, ambulance taillights, side vent windows deleted.

I think there is a new purpose for old headers now, great idea.

I haven't seen the side grain chute in years! Or, at least something like them. Really like the exhaust look.

OK, here you go. Started with a 1951 Mercury M3 I found at a farm in Saskatchewan, the owner had 250 trucks neatly parked in rows, in there were 60 Mercury trucks, I bought 2.5 trucks and started the vision. I left everything that the original owner had done to the truck, grain chute on the side, grain chute cut into the Mercury tailgate, auxiliary box light, extended driver's door mirror, heavy duty rear bumper that was different left to right. Just funky stuff I liked.
Started with rack and pinion steering, four wheel disc brakes, 274 inch flathead with Holley four barrel, Fenton headers, set number 11 of Wilson Woods heads, Ed Iskenderian ground the cam for me, the intake is the first Edelbrock 4 barrel manifold re-produced. Vic did not have Edelbrock boxes done for them yet and it was sold to me after they were done with the catalogue photos., Tremec 5-speed using the original pedal mounts (very trick set up)
I also thought a 3/4 race cam sounded odd so I put a 3/4 red fan on it, if you look at the photo you will see one blade is not red, 3/4's red, get it.

Interior had the dash layout changed, delete ashtray, extend glove box, hood chrome added, MG banjo steering wheel, gauges mounted on a swiveling panel, stock seat done in old lawn chair strapping material, vent windows removed, frost shield replicated on the new green glass, power windows added. Then we took mid-50's Mercury cufflinks and inserted them in the door panels, that rectangle is the shape of the Province of Saskatchewan, and the cufflink location is the town my Grandfather landed at when they came to Canada. 12-27-04 Big Seat b.JPG 2017-04-27 3.JPG 2017-04-27 4.JPG 2017-04-277.JPG 2017-04-29 10.jpg 2017-04-27 5.JPG

Boxwood is alder from Saskatchewan that was cut and milled, then painted to look like a DEW Line sign. US guys use Area 51 and I wanted something Canadian. Which is also why I used as much Robertson hardware as possible. I also re-used as much of the square headed hardware that was removed when I disassembled it.
Taillights were found in an old fire truck that was at a garbage dump at a deserted saw mill/ghost town. I think they are 50's ambulance. Split them in half and added a second bulb. They are plastic, so I rusted one of them up, spray bombed them from a distance and added floor sweepings that I had saved 10 years earlier when I took it apart. The green light on the mirror was an old truckers accessory to show oncoming traffic how wide you were., if you look closely along the drip rail you can see where the farmer ran the wire for the box light for shoveling grain at night. 2017-03-15.JPG IMG_20170605_181051.jpg IMG_20170605_180721.jpg IMG_20160727_195625.jpg IMG_20160727_195639.jpg IMG_20160727_200132.jpg

Took some brand new HID headlights, broke the lens out of them and added 1950's Autolite Bullseye lens', laminated hockey sticks for stake pocket brace, Rick 'the Axe' added door graphics, different on both sides, original fencing nail box left on. After a couple set backs like a broke tibula/fibula , once I got out of the wheel chair I realized I could not get it completed myself, so with awesome help for Gary Y., and my other buds it got on the road, so I burnt their names into the top of the side boards with a magnifying glass and a box of beer.
My Helpers.jpg DSCN0199.JPG I have put over 5,000 miles on it.

Do I spy the remnants of a hockey stick attaching one of the sideboards? Why Not?!

I think wisdonm is correct, only 1 pipe being functional. It does not look like the header is just installed backwards, it looks like he cut the individual pipes off the header and attached them for looks.

    Look, no collector:
