Used on several different mid/late 70s Ford products, with varying center caps. Lincoln, LTDII, T-Bird, and some of the Mercury variations... usually a luxo-barge... Most were a 5-on-5 bolt pattern, although I have seen a set with 4.5-on-5 that came on the Versailles I think...
Bingo all above!!! Think Lincoln Mark V wheels.....I think they were an option/accessory. Hubcaps screwed onto those three threaded holes in the black area. I've seen them in both 15" and 14".
Throwing the word "vintage" just adds bbq sauce to the price, but the others have nailed it on "70s" vintage.
I have a very vague recollection of some Ford wheels like those...... around that time, that oxidized and/or fused to the hubs so tightly the axle shafts had to be pulled. No disrespect to Ford, their wheels, etc. My recall is like a wisp of smoke and devoid of details. I'm just saying "Check it out if you can."
An 8 lb sledge wacked on rhe inner sidewall usually works to lpop those off at least it does on my OT rig. I coat the hub with antiseze (sp??) when I have them off. Polished up without the caps those Ford wheels don't look all that bad and might look pretty good with a chrome spider in the middle of them.
Probably same people that make thier distributors. Sent from my LG-TP450 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Be honest don't lie!! Lol but does it have a very light halibrand look to it. And just possibly u could put a magnesium finish on it and run it on a hotrod mildly fooling people into vintage parts!!
Yep. Seen a couple of nice 'Rollin Bones' lookalikes at Billetproof with those wheels...Took a double take, thought they were old Halibrand 'Salad Bowls', as my ex wife called 'em...
I would think if a person were in their 20`s or 30`s that the above wheel would indeed fit into their definition of vintage. Just like I don't consider music I listened to in high school as classic but that's how it's classified
Funny thing is, if you use the search term "vintage " you're likely to get results no older than 1990 these days
here is the 1978 Chrysler Cordoba, LeBaron wheel 15x6, 5 bolt, 4.5 inch bolt circle, 4 inch backspace. I'm looking for two like this. Curt R
I agree with what has already been posted. The guys I vintage raced with liked to run these on their race car trailers; it almost became the "in" thing to do.
