I also had to modify my oil fill tube. As far as being traditional , it looks better than having an electric fan IMO. To tell you the truth, there hasn't been more than a handful of people that have noticed mine, and less than that knew what it was. Bill

I notched the back of the riser on mine to clear the oil filler tube. Thankfully I got the clearance I needed before I went through the casting!

  3. Minor modifications and using a big 17" mechanical fan it's centered on the radiator, by the way electric fan's and aluminum radiators ain't traditional. HRP

On my '31"A" hiboy, it allowed me to use an 17" dia, fan whereas with stock pump the front crossmember was interfering with anything larger than 13".

Can't tell if you have a front fill oil tube. I'm gonna try one like yours cause there readily available but I think it might interfere with the oil tube

Yep, I'd like to see how you did your oil fill tube

It looks like it could clear easily with a small damper or just a small drive hub for the lower pulley. Maybe require a pump spacer like they used on small blocks when running a blower with a Gilmer drive. Thanks for those pictures.

I have never seen or noticed such a pump before. What is the added value of a pump mounted like that?

  13. Gets the fan into the center of the radiator and also moves the fan away from the rad on tight clearances where a mechanical fan in it’s normal position wouldn’t fit.

Lots of good info here. Take a look at the many brackets Alan Grove Components offers if you have not yet. They have lots of brackets and you may be able to use one out of the box or modify it to suit your build.
