Some times a unexpected range of motion can be a bad thing. 16044900954088169546925168315382.jpeg 16044901163826243854262522404258.jpeg

    Hello,

Here is a short action video provided by PNW Marty Strode’s collection of drag racing DVDs. We are looking at all of the footage and trying to get some digital film or photos for display. The collection is from the PNW in different years and dates.

It was noted that this 2020 year may be the last participating year for Chris Karamesines, The Greek. So, a portion of the film collection was edited for this display. Thanks @MartyStrode … more to come… Thanks to The Greek for the years of excitement and professionalism.

    THE GREEK, Kent, WASHINGTON

Chris Karamesines history in drag racing is one for the books. His early start and longevity is a wonder of the world. Our introduction to “The Greek” was reading all of his early drag racing career exploits in the Midwest from our weekly Drag News papers. Then of all things, in December of 1959, “The Greek” shows up at So Cal’s Riverside Raceway for an all-out assault against the top racers from the Westcoast. His so-called team consisted of Don Garlits, Bobby Langley, to mention a few. That in itself, is a powerful team.

So, our introduction was pretty exciting. His creation of those powerful, well designed swoopy headers were/are one of a kind. Everyone was impressed with the action. Then a few years rolls on and with a new chassis and motor, but with the same cool header design, he becomes a touring pro, like many others at the time.

This is the portion from Marty Strode’s collection. It is now 1963 in Kent, Washington.

The late great Paul Longenecker was one of my favorite low-buck fuel racers. Won Top Fuel titles in AHRA and IHRA. He raced about everything including Pro Stock.

  25. Post a few shots of the wagon itself. Someone may remember seeing it seeing in the pits from years ago and have some info to share. Do you have any idea where the wagon spent it's life while in the States? o_O

  26. Those pictures may help some. When you mentioned it was a Town & Country I first thought it might have had the fake woodgrain trim down the sides. But from the shots you posted it was still hard to tell if it was white or maybe tan colored. I tried to do a bit of color correction and I'm thinking that maybe it's a pale yellow?

Also spotted the license plate frame that says Sacramento so maybe the car spent some of its life in the northern part of California.

  28. A close friend of my dads (Phil Mc keg) sent him some pictures from the mid sixties at Rockford dragway and Oswego dragway. His brothers were partners on the twin engine dragster in the pictures. The fallowing is his words.

Rich Mc Keg in brown shit and Dave Mc Keg in the white jacket Phil Mc Keg in blue jacket his nephew Scott Mc Keg standing in the driver seat and there friend Ronnie Jelinek Berwyn ILL. Boys his brothers bought the car from Bud Bailey. Bud bought Ivo's first Chrysler top fuel car when Ivo got his newer one. Bud was afraid of it & couldn't make a full pass. Ivo was at US 30 with his new car & Baily was whining that something was wrong with his. so Ivo got in it and made an epic Banzai run i will never forget. he stood on it all the way through the traps and qualified the car for Baily. That cat was louder because it stll had weed sweeper headers on it. What a rt. Evyone in the hot car pits was at rhe fence to see that run . That was a blast. 5741.jpeg Pelin-Line Twin Rear.jpg img001.jpg img031.jpg
